Dudes

Alot of you are familiar with my build....but I have a confession - Im bored with it!

I've been rocking pretty much the same setup for 3 years now. I'm content with the power, content with the times, and I know I'd have to dump a BOATLOAD into it to really make a noticeable difference in power (not to mention risk factor of breaking, stressing parts, etc)

I'll be honest.....I've hopped in the drivers seat of my Z probably 6-7 times this year collectively......and about half of those times were to drive it on the trailer to go to the dragstrip.

I've been tooling around in an 07' BMW 335i 6spd for the last few months as my daily driver, and I pretty much enjoy driving this car more than the Z. The refinement, the smoothness, the quickness (no lag!) I've added nothing but an ECU tune which gets it around 350rwhp and similar tq numbers.

Are any of you guys getting bored with your setups? What do you plan to do to rectify that?

Maybe switch chasiss to something like a e30 that a little roomier. Or a something with a little more head room. I drivin a lot z32 and it feels more cramp then a s13 sometimes.

Or you could setup a more responsive engine setup.

i wanted more power in mine but wanted it to be a fun daily driver too. so i got 2 daily driver one s13 rb20 and 00 civic hatch turbo. plus putting a/c in both muahaha both making around 300 now civic a little more

I'm am getting to a road with my swap. I have learned so much about the SR20VVL head that if something happens to my 20 it's gone in a flash since I already have a spare VVL head lol. I'm not going to try and break it but if something happens it VVL time. I am also bored off my a** stuck in this APT out of town working. Dropped a 45lb sidewalk cover on my right foot 2 weeks ago at work and I can't get back to work till it heals!!!!!! so my days are spent on the internet trapped in here and going to the Dr once a week.

I'm not bored yet because I just came out of hibernation... however I think next year my car is loosing ET streets (or gaining a backup wheel/tire combo) and heading to local circuit tracks. I lost my PS belt on Wednesday and have been driving w/o PS for the last couple days. I love how it feels without it through turns... made me miss curves.

Don't get me wrong a new car with new stuff in it would be nice.. but 500-600$$ car payments blow... I've got a could of build ideas for the future but I suppose I'm content at the moment.

Andy do you drive your z32 much on street? or is too far away from being street friendly right now?

500-600 payments do blow......thats why I paid cash, lol. I've got a house payment thats enough to make me sick and a baby is due early next month. In addition to full-time work, I full-time school....my heads spinning!

I do drive it on the street.....its plenty street friendly, It just uses alot of gas, isnt near as comfy, and also has the potential of getting me in alot of trouble at times....haha

I've learned that I'm more interested in planning, researching, and working on the car rather than driving it. Once it is done and tuned, it doesn't seem like there's much else to look forward to unless you're competing with it at the track. I'd sell my car for $20k tomorrow, but it is impossible to finance this car for $20k so there goes about 99% of the market. I've come to the conclusion that I would need to trade it for something else of value to me in order to get my money back out of it. Parting out is not an option because I don't want a non-running car stuck in my garage.

I feel your dilemma Andy, but I can't offer any advice because I am as up in the air as you are. :gotme

My 240 is still new to me, ive only have it for 2.5 years this winter im going to try and swap out the stock Rb25 head with a ported RB26 head and some larger cams in hopes for some better power...

Ive had my prelude for 11 years i almost sold it a few weeks ago but the kid flaked and i figured it was a sign to just keep the car so thats what happening...

Id really like to build something LSX based, FD Rx7 with a wirly gig but no time and to many bills

Yeah, I got bored with my swap to. More fed up with trying to fix it all the time, so I just put it to the side for like a 1/2 year or so and bought a 2002 C5 Z06 to drive around instead.

Maybe it's time to take it to the next level. Make it an all out drag car...you now, auto transmission, transbrake, drag slicks and 9 second passes. Or try out something new like time attack.

Nice on paying cash up front.

I hear you on the gas when on the stick but.. hwy cruising isn't terrible I'm seeing ~22-24 mph right now. You back on pump or e85?

One annoyance I have right now is rattles... I need to address a lot of them, makes me feel like I'm driving a POS sometimes.

Trouble is what I'm afraid of.. so I kept it calm most of the time.. however I did run down a 112whp 2010 R6 last night. That keeps me happy. ;)

I actually helped develop/validate a TH400 kit for the RB26 a few years back. It was still when I had the GT42 on the car. That kit can now be found here...

http://bde-performance.com/th400.htm

I ran the transmission for a while but the people who built it couldnt get the transbrake to work right, and the turbo was so large I had to shoot a 150 shot of nitrous at the car standing still at the line to get the car up on the stall - talk about hair raising.

My biggest complaint was the heat. You have to run a large stall with a big turbo so the converter was slipping always when I drove it around town.....that generates a ton of heat which is transferred to the cabin.

I'll never go back to pump gas. The 150rwhp gains are totally worth it.....I can get around 25mpg on the highway if I throw the 'lean' tune on it for cruising.

Racing bikes is alot of fun, I raced a few 600's from a roll and womped both of them.......certainly an eye-opener for the pilot of the bike!

try turning with the car :) hit up some local road courses in the 335 and see how you like it, then mod the Z to make it more road course friendly. a lot more driver skill behind road driving IMO that will do away with your boredom... and wallet at the same time.

drifting is fun too but it's slow, and you need a more "disposable" body to make mistakes in

I've been thinking about getting into karting

A group of us are going to hit up a road course with a friends 28.5hp rotax kart.....I have done it once before and its quite fun, and significantly cheaper

on a fulltrack it is quite hard to kill ur car if u know what to do. I assume u are by no means low class and could afford a few sets of tires that are much cheaper than grip/track tires for a day of drifting. It is fun to gain perfect control of your car it can help save you on real track events. Yes it is slower speeds but its quite the adrenaline booster

My budget for vehicles is about to be severely reduced, my baby is due in a week and thats going to be a HANDFULL!

I can assume I'll be alot less productive out in the garage, and active in the 'scene' for quite some time.....its depressing now, but I am sure I will have much more fun with a newborn.....

karting is a lot of fun, especially when a group of your friends can go out in the same ones and duke it out.

congrats on the baby, you won't be bored anymore.

Congratulations on the baby. I have a 5.5 month old son. It greatly changes your perspective on everything. He is the best little guy ever, and I would give up all my cars for him if I had to.

I'm running a DXD 6-puck sprung clutch. I believe its either the BX or FX series clutch. Had it in for roughly 2.5 years now and not had a single hiccup
