Hey guys, I currently have a couple different suspension projects to tackle & I'm afraid I may not have enough time in 1 weekend (at the rate I work) to do EVERYTHING at once.

Things to do:Front:- coilovers- front lower control arm- tie rods- tension rods (replacing current adjustable one)- sway bar- 5 lug

Rear:- coilovers- rear upper control arm (may be replacing current adjustable one)- rear traction rods- rear aluminum spindle- sway bar- 5 lug

Current: kyb agx + sportlines, and ruca & tension rods (to be replaced)

I want to install this w/ minimal re-alignment as a goal & minimal down-time (obviously).

1st weekend:front everything but 5-lug & rear sway bar - 5 lug on front should be easy, just unbolt and rebolt

get front alignment -> will run w/ kts coilovers in front & kyb in back -> hopefully driveable for a week or so

2nd weekend:rear everything & front 5-lug

get rear alignment ( or possibly at this step, get "lifetime" alignment from discount tires - not sure how well they do cars w/ aftermarket suspension, but worth a shot ).

The idea here is to give myself a weekend for the flca & sway bars and another weekend for the rear aluminum spindle. The reason for not doing the rear first is that I don't want to run 5 lug until everything is complete & I may be doing the fronts before I receive my rims.

Of course, I can just wait and do everything all in one weekend... just wondering on everyone's thoughts.

THANKS!

IF you have a full weekend you could do everything but the 5 lug so you only have to align it once...that could save you a bit of money....The front sway is easy, and the rear is much easyer, the tie rods and tension rods are easy too...take off the arms to be replaced as well as the sways...It will make the coilovers easyer to put on.Ive done most of the stuff your talking about, Am Im not that quick myself.I have faith in you man get your car to 5 lug first week end, then nock out all the alignment stuff at once, getting the coilovers on and adjusted will be your biggest chunk of time, removeing and replacing the arms is cake, sways are easy too, although the rear can be a bit of a puzzle...

Yea, if I even touch the rear, the 5 lug must go on, hehe. I had to remove the hub last time to install the z32 drum ebrake & we basically took out the spindle (most of it anyway) to get access to the hub bolts... so since I'm installing a new spindle, don't want to have to take it out twice - which would also mean another realignment.

I need to adjust my ebrake again too... .

Somehow I always spend at least half a day even on trivial stuff. There's a good chance I'll be doing this myself, hopefully a friend or two will be available to help me... damn ppl and there "I have better things to do on my weekend".

I do have a 3 day weekend comin up w/ the July 4th madness... hmmmm, perhaps that will be the best bet.

dont sweat it man..just do the 5 lug as one job and the suspension stuff as another...getting the coilovers on should only take a few hours I did mine by my self as well and even if the coils took you a whole day the 240's front suspension is seriously nothing...3 bolts for each tension rod then like a bolt and a ball joint for the control arm

thats pretty cool I wish I would have done something like that with the last alignment I got...but the real question is will they set it to your specs each time...cause that could be handy If you could try out diffrent specs each week for free

well the terms is that either 5000 miles or if it needs ot be aligned

but when I go 3 weeks in a row, they didn't seem to care at all. I just tell them suspension upgrade then the manager ask no further question.

Then proceed to the back, tell the mechanic how to adjust the camber plate/ruca and what spec you want and he'll do your bidding

I mean if you go when they are not busy, I doubt the'll be a d!ck about it

Maybe the shops in your area are better, hehehe.

My friend got the discount tire lifetime one (you can get an online coupon so 150 -> about 120-130). The problem is the ones in our area are ALWAYS busy. We have yet to find a day when they are not busy.

Also, they seem to lag & you can see their faces are kinda "freakin-a, aftermarket suspension" hahahahaha.

How the hell do you adjust camber plates? hahaha. Thanks Loveless - maybe I'll check out the firestone one - those guys seem to be busy a lot too, at least when I go check it out - time to start waking up earlier.

have you tried like early in the morning? who the hell would wnat to wake up at 8am to do an alignment? I doubt they are busy at that time.

usally I just go in the afternoon on a saturday, and they're just kicking back.

I tell every tech in advance how to adjust it so they know what to do. One of the mexican tech even asked me... "so, how do you want your settings?"

it's the firestone on azusa and nogales in west covina (bordering walnut and rowland height)

Dammit, now I have to start waking up @ 8am, hehehe.

I have tried Saturdays at different times (except early *** in the morning) around my area, those are the busiest apparently.

Thanks for the tip.
