To all of you who want to tell me not to, go read that thread on 87 octane gas!

Just wondering if anyone drifts their G?

I've been wanting to, but I'm going to wait until I get new rear brakes put in and I think I'll take it to a drift day clinic so someone can show me how instead of me wrapping my coupe around a tree.

i use to drift my g when i first got it and didnt have another car to practice with and tires are effin to expensive for a minimal wage 16 yr old lol so i stopped and i didnt want to tear up my g cuz its such beautiful car =]

if you really want to start drifting i would just get a 240 or supra or somethng that isn't a arm and a leg to fix and trust you going to hit something i learned that when i first got into it

You probably should link to that thread and save all of us the trouble of having to find it.

I'm hoping I can still get them when I have the money... I know a guy that works at a local infiniti dealership and he offered me 6 sets of rear bridgestones for $120 hehehe.

So as long as I get the hang of it quickly, I should be able to burn through the rears and not worry about wearing out the fronts.

I am so blessed. I got all 4 of my tires used with good tread on them for $211 mounted and balanced *thank God*

sometimes I sneak into the garage to watch my g sleeping?

I 'drift' my G if I ever find myself in an empty parking lot.... its fun the understeer on the sedan is really great.

I also drift a little bit coming out of every turn at the track. See my sig picture.

Another cheap spot to buy tires is discount tire's auctions on ebay.http://stores.ebay.com/Discoun...tions

I did donuts once in my G, the power steering pump blew up, very sad day for my G. Not to mention it happened in front of a bar crowd + 9 other G's in a beach parking lot. /sniff

If you have no experience your going to probably destroy your car, wait till there is a seminar/whatever like you said.

Im not a Drift expert by any means! but last time i checked you shouldn't do Donuts in a AWD...

Just my $.02

Well I have done some drifting on closed roads or late at night on back roads that only have fields on both sides. The key is to have smooth paved roads to drift. If you do it on a ruff surface you will tare up the tires.

I love it, and it is really fun to hang that big A$$ end of the G out to the side.

I will tell you one thing, The G is very Predictable when drifting!

Good Luck and Be safe with you and others!

yep, they worked out great. If you know a cheaper way of fitting 275/40/17's on the front of a G sedan I'm all ears man. Getting past that upper control arm is a biotch!

They are for track use only.

Look at that. He's doing car work with leather dress shoes on!!!

I've "drifted" my I30 before. Especially on wet new pavement, but there's a difference between getting your car to slide sideways vs. pushing your car sideways.

I miss my I30. It's been like a month since I've driven her. The G is great, but the sound of the I with the mods I made was just heaven. Listening to the G's muffled intake and whiny exhaust makes me sad.

How do you blow your power steering pump by drifting? And how do you do doughnuts with AWD?

Has anyone seen the new Mustang commercial where the red GT comes drifting around the corner, and pulls up next to a black one with a honey in it. Then the dude wakes up.

You know, I had no idea how sweet those torch red GTs looked.

You're in for real problems then... Du Pont reportedColor Popularity Data by Region and for Selected Countries Dec 4th 2007

* North America – White/white pearl led in popularity with 19 percent of the overall vehicle market and 26 percent of the market for the truck/SUV category. White/white pearl tied in popularity with black for the luxury segment in North America, while silver reigned in intermediate/CUV and compact/sport segments, but declined in popularity in the past year by a combined 5 percent since the 2006 DuPont report.

Pearl shines and shimmers in the sun. She is so pretty.

Silver is still the reigning champion last I heard.

I love the blue on my I30, but I miss the champagne color it used to be. I could go for months without washing it and you'd never know it wasn't clean.

I drift in my 08 V36. It's fun. However, if you are learning, you might wanna start from lower speed, possibly in rain. Try kicking the clutch, then pulling the parking brake. Then, adjust the steering angle, adjust the gas, and here you go!

What's the deal with pulling on the e-brake? I know I should just go check out a drift "How-to" but it seems counter intuitive on a RWD car to pull the e-brake.

Am I missing something?

It'll lock your rear tires, and make it easier to lost tail. Make sure you are pushing clutch in while pulling your parking brake though. Pulling the parking brake will allow you to lose control at low speed, and I reccommend it when you are starting. Once you get used to it, then you can do braking drift without touching parking brake.

That's how you park on the oposite side of the road .

I have never drifted my G, and probably won't. All i know is that the G-35 is perhaps one of the best mid-size cars in tight turns. I guess my Rear Active Steer (RAS) makes this possible. My limitation is the number of Gs my body can handle. Other than that, the G-35 is truely a real work of art in tight turns. Very few cars that can smoke the G-35 on a straightline can barely handle the tightness of turns, at speeds, as the G-35. I know this because its happened to me before.

I had this guy take off a little before I did. Fortunately, he was going in the same direction as I was, and there is 2-3 mile dead but smooth and well paved road with all the tight windy curves of a race track around where I live---no houses there, very few cars, and almost zero cops. I mean i achieve 90 miles an hour on these curves which almost snaps my neck as I do so. The road has about 4 serious curves. Wehn you drive back, it is almost the same. Fortunately, the road is a two-lane road.

Well, as we approached the first curve, he started slowing down, when my G-35 was actually beginning to pick up steam, while effortlessly making the curve seem so smooth. With each curve, the guy was falling behind each minute. By the time he got to the point, where we had to turn around, and repeat the same track, I was already on my way back. I was totally impressed with my G. If only other cars knew how good the G-35 is on curves, windy roads and corners. I think they will have a new found respect for it. Absolutely a joy to drive on windy and curvy roads at break neck speeds without worry.

I'm starting to accept the G's handling. My other car is still far more predictable and with RE050's on it, it handles much better. Then again, we're talking about over 3 grand in suspension, wheels and tires on the other car hehe.

I guess, I'll check it out when I quit my weekend job and go to a drift day event.

Just thought I'd get everyone's input on the subject.

Hey Kenrik,

How does the G compare to the 240 when drifting?

Sentient:

I understand exactly how you feel about the G. I felt the same way too. In fact, my little Nissan which does not go as fast, is more predicatble than my G.

This is what I have discovered about the G, especially the ones with RAS and sports tunes suspension, like mine. It is a lot easier to loose the G at slow speeds in tight corners than at higher speeds on tighter corners.

I once lost my G after making a turn at about 25 miles per hour. With good steering work, the G-35 corrected itself. Yes, and yes, if you are calm and cmported, with a little steerring input, with no car coming behind you, the G-35 Coupe has the ability to correct itself. Most cars would have sommersaulted under similar conditions. When i recovered it, I continued to flog the hell out of the car. When I got home, I kissed the car and thanked Nissan for such a fantastic ride. it was an experience of a life time. of course, this was when I first bought the car. Remember, my car is my toy.

After that day, all my inhibitions about the way the car handles, was completely gone. the G-35 Coupe requires respect. If you can respect it, it will respect you.

The Re0050A tires does help. And I am approaching 20K + on my first set of RE0050 Tires, with the rear tires wearinig faster than the front. Rear might make it to 22k and front might actually make it to 25K. Remember, this is a 2007 G-35 Coupe.

So long as the road is dry, I look forard to entering corners and bends at high speeds. It is usually the highlight of my driving experience each day.

Even my clutch, the way it feels, and with the way I flog the car, It should make it to 40K or upt o when I buy a supercharger/twin turbo, which ever comes first, before I replace it.

I think the low vs high speed thing has to do with what gear you're in.

You'll get a lot more torque on the rear wheels in a lower gear than in a higher one at higher speeds.

As such, it's not the handling or the tires so much as torque
