im going to be doing my timing chain on my sr20 redtop on tuesday. i pick up the timing chain kit from frsport.com, it was a steal at $199 for everything....i have the instructions on how its done from the blacktop sr20, i was just wondering if i had to take off the head in order to do it? it says to take the head off, and it also says to take the oil strainer off along with the oil baffle...do i need to or can i do it with out taking these parts off??? thanks

The oil baffles need to come off, so does the upper oil pan. I learned all this the hard way, just do what it says in the FSM and you'll be good to go. If the kit came with a head gasket, I would pull the head, but either way you're going to have to loosen the head studs/bolts whatever you want to call them. Good luck, it's not fun and make sure you put the chain on the exhaust cam first and then the intake cam. Good luck
