I saw this website the other day and i know someone using it on his car and he swear by that thing... I consider using it this summer would like to know if someone can tell me their hand-on impression on this DIY standalone. The price is pretty low i can have the controller and the wiring harness for 350CAD and 400 if i want the timing and spark module. If you build it yourself it cost about 100 150 USd.. approxits a EFI computer ... here the link have a look !

its riddled with bugs, my friend has it on his turbo probe. it still isn't working. the RPM inputs always self destruct and read 10K rpms and dump in tons of fuel. when it works, it works fine, but i'd wait for a better version. it also only runs on a 8X8 fuel and timing map. the new BETA runs 12X12 but i would still like more adjustability.

Great tool that will force you to learn EFI through and through. Not as complex as the other standalones, and it is not for everyone.

It only works as good as the person who built and programmed it. You get a blank program and you have to change the code to fit your engine. If his setup is writtled with bugs, its because it wasn't setup right.

HOWEVER.Regular Megasquirt and Megasquirt II will not work with coil-on-plug setups. Inorder to use it on a CA, you'll have to convert to a distributor or grab a Ford EDIS setup.Ultra MegaSquirt, when ever it comes out, will support OEM COP setups.

They're very popular on the MK1 MR2 board I hang around. Last I checked there wasn't support for ignition control yet though, which would make me hesitant to use it on a turbo car. IMO you really should have an available means to pull timing if you're increasing boost more than a few psi.

Ah, I wasn't aware they offered that now.

Megasquirt sounds like cracked ringlands and possibly burned pistons on a CA. You get what you pay for!

i agree dee, you were telling me how fussy the CA is about timing. i don't think the megasquirt has enough adjustability to not break something.
