I'm asking because I heard it's the proper way to remove unwanted odors from the HVAC system on cars. Does anyone happen to know where it is and has anyone done this?

I've already tried spaying febreeze through the cowl near the windshield but that's only a temporary fix.

Before shutting down, turn on heat, will evaporate any liquids and remove stink.

It's under the dash, what odors are you getting? Did you run the heat full up full on fan?

Yup, ran it for like 20 minutes. I bought the car used about a year ago and the smell has been present since the day I bought it. I checked out a few other forums and people have suggested this product:

Many people gave it rave reviews so I'm going to give it a shot.

When changing the in cabin air filter, i'll usually take a vacuum and suck out whatever is in the evaporator box. Usually leaves and pine needles and stuff!

Yeah I did that when I cut the slots to make room for the cabin filters (car didn't come with them), thanks to whoever did the DIY!!

You can only get so much out of that tiny space. I almost guarantee that a lot of our evaporators have some form mildew/mold. I did a bunch of research on various cars(domestic, european, japanese) and they are all susceptible to having mold/mildew/bacterial growth which is the main cause of the odors (also if you're a smoker too).

Other than the product I mentioned or other similar products, the only way you can properly get it out is pulling the evap out and giving it a thorough cleaning. I hear it's a pain on some cars, you have to tear the entire dash apart, not sure if it's the same with the R50's.

I just saw this stuff too http://www.lubegard.com/~/C-204/Kool-It ... am+Cleaner
