Has anyone been out skiing yet? I know in NY theres like no natural snow so you have to depend on what they make. It sucks. I want some real snow so I can do some good skiing. I haven't been out yet, but I'm going Sunday or Monday. I'm excited.

I went snowboarding out here in CA twice: Thanksgiving weekend and the weekend before last. I'm going to Colorado for some more in 2 days

When I was there the first time the snow was patchy and there were some rocky areas on the slopes, but the second time it was nice, packed snow.

I went skiing at Perfect North Slopes in Indiana last monday. It wasnt that great bc it was all fake snow but still fun. This is the only reason i like winter, to ski.

ahhhh.....I hate you all. Our mountains have like 14"-20" of base and thats mostly man made, and half the trails aren't open. This sucks

I'm pissed I came back to Seattle for Christmas break thinking that there would be snow in the mountains, but it all melted away. I want the 98-99 season back when Mt. Baker got 3 feet of new snow a day.

I just got back from Breckenridge. I was snowboarding and did a right cut and back left and flipped onto my back and hit a tree with my head. Got a concussion. It was nuts. That resort is f'ing huge.

Cool, that's where I'm going. I'm going to be there three days, and we were thinking of hitting Breckenridge, Keystone, and Vale. I dunno though, I'm not planning the trip, I'm just along for the ride

How is snowboarding? I was thinking about trying it this year to see if I like it. If I do, I'll buy a board at the end of the season when they're cheaper hopefully.

We've been skiing at Killington since Halloween. They are the first to open and the last to close (East of the rockies obviously).

Their usual season is late October until late June.

Right now there's about 3 feet of natural and twice that much man-made.

They are about 75% open with 40 miles of skiing right now.

If you are not in shape, its pretty physically demanding, but fun. You will bust your a$$ many many times when learning.

Been to West Virginia twice so far, rainy, terrible snow, three hour drive, DEFINITELY worth it, I spent all summer dreaming about boarding Planning on picking up some new boots when I get back to school if I can sell the 240, and hitting a local slope at least 5 times.

I went twice last season and it was fun, so I decided to pick it up this season. I spent $150 on a board in October, $180 on boots and $180 on bindings, and I've been twice this year. It's painful the first few times, but it's more fun every time you go.

I'm heading out tomorrow, I'll have to look into that Breckenridge/Keystone combo thing!

Where in WVA? I love snowshoe, its an all-around good resort. Been 3-4 times now. Winterplace blows though.

I went to Killington during last year's spring break. I have to say, that skiing was better than Sun Valley in Idaho and this place I can't remember the name of in Lake Tahoe. My stepmom's got some land about 15 minutes outside of Breckenridge. I can't wait 'till she builds on it so we can have even cheaper vacations.

Only problem is, everyone I go with just wants to ski greens/blues, where I wanna ski blacks.

Haha... if you want to come ski Killington again let me know. We'll hit the double diamonds all day!!!

I just got home from PICO today (owned and operated by Killington). The conditions were AWESOME! Packed powder plus a light dusting coming down all day. The steeps had some ice patches.... but nothing a decent edge wouldn't hold!

If you do make it out this way let me know. I can get you a good deal on lodging and maybe even find some discount passes. It would HAVE to be mid-week and "off-vacation" though.

Just got back from 3 days of boarding at Killington.

The first day was pretty bad, it had rained the night before and the trails iced over really fierce.

The second day was much better, man made snow on the ground and not as much icing.

The third day was sick. Snowed a ton during hte day, great powder for carving on. Only problem was I was exhausted from going all out the first two days, and i had no goggles so snow kept getting in my eyes as it was falling down.

I haven't been skiing in 2 years. I may need to head up to michigan this year. My aunt and uncle just got back from Utah a few days ago.
