Hey guys, thanks for all the input on my last topic. Here's another one for ya:It looks like I'll by buying my Silver A/C 2.5 (pretty sure 2.5) in the next month. I just found out that my through my father's work (UP Railroad) that he can participate in a VPP. Here is the wording verbatim:

The Vehicle Purchase Program (VPP) enables you to purchase or lease a new Nissan or Infiniti at a pre-negotiated price: dealer net cost less applicable incentives, plus 2.5% delivery fee, plus destination and handling charge and, if applicable, an advertisement assessment.

Does that wording make this sound really good? Does this mean: cost - incentives + delivery fee + destination = a really good deal?

I used VPP, C&D plan to purchase the car. You get about 1.3% below invoice on the total purchase. You can check edmunds.com for the invoice pricing. Note that many dealers are not honoring VPP pricing for the Altima Coupe. Go around dealerships to find one that will.

My car came out to $24817 for the 2.5S with premium package and kick plate. Tax, title, license not included.

I am buying my new 2009 FX using the VPP. It's been a pain in the neck negotiating with the dealers. The VPP program is being advertised as hassle free and it is all but that. I had to negotiate so much with Infiniti dealerships to finally get one that will get me close to VPP (not exactly the same). The experience has been disappointing! Infiniti should either cancel the program or honor it. But not in between. The incentives are good, on paper!

I used VPP to buy mine and had the complete opposite experience from khwh. Mine was completely hassle free. I may have been able to negotiate a price $500 cheaper (based on what other people mentioned they got the vehicle for), but it would not have been worth the time it would've taken (to me anyway).

I wonder if Infiniti dealers are more difficult?

i used VPP to purchase my sedan. for the most part, it was hassle free and i got the car for what i think at the time was a fair price (i paid $30K otd for everything minus gps) but i also got mine in white on black which nobody had (and still i'm sure not too many people have). the only part was waiting for my car since the closest dealership that had it was approximately 100+ miles away.

The sales manager pretty much took care of everything. ask me what i wanted, told me the cost and that was pretty much it. he did all the work to contact and get the car and updated me pretty much every day on the status of finding my car.

from what i understand, the reason dealerships participate in VPP is so that they have a better selection of cars from Nissan. by participating in VPP in looks good on their record of sales, and they are given better cars for their dealership. i could be wrong but for the most part i'm quoting what my buddy said and he's the guy that lent me his pass for the VPP.
