i used to be a trap/skeet puller for a few years when in my young teens. never actually shot it tho. now they have voice prompt microphones to pull it, now all you do is keep score.

I did.

Once (skeet)

With a $35,000 Kolar.

And I SUCKED.

Didn't help that I was shooting with my best friend, Keith Vess, who at the time, was probably one of the 100 best shooters in the country. So next to him, I sucked to a degree that the English language is unable to describe.

i pulled/scored trap and skeet for 3 years, we were a small club and just transitioning to a voice-pull system as i was leaving.

the few times i shot i was breaking in the 20's on trap with heavy 8 handicap AA's and 12, 20 and 28 gauge skeet i think the best i ever did was 15.

kolars are pretty decent, but some of the old farts out there shot custom guns that cost upwards of $100,000... saw one guy fire a round into the trap house and drop his brand-new gun lol.

Yeah, the same guy who had the Kolar had a ton of other guns, like Fabrizzi's (sp?) and whatnot.

Including a Holland & Holland side-by-side, which was in a case and apparently had not been fired for going on ten years.

Obviously I wasn't allowed to place my dirty mits on any of that stuff, lol.

^ i know what you mean, in the even that i was allowed to use a gun from one of their 'collections' i was afraid to breathe on it too hard as i might incur some sort of damage to it and have to spend the rest of my life paying the debt back lol

Oh yeah? Well one time Rob Leatham laughed at me when I shot trap at the 1996 Chevy Truck Sportsmans Team Challenge in Ft. Lauderdale. I felt honored. Oh yeah, I was shooting a camo Remington 870.

I would have laughed at me too.

I've got a Beretta 1200 that shoots MUCH better.

well, i was gonna reply yeah, i shoot some skeet. but then i noticed the level of guns and "competion" trap. i have shot trap since i was 11 with my dad, but i have only used a gun range a few times. and i have never shot in a range that they toss the targets for you. we hand toss our own, or use spring style thrower. i shoot a 870 express and also have an 1187 auto. both 12gauge, both can take 3 1/2mags.

I went once about 19 years ago with my boss who was a member of the Atlanta Skeet and Gun club (or something like that). We were both drunk as hell and I had never shot a shotgun before. We did two rounds. He shot at appx 70% and I shot appx 90%+. Surprised the hell outta him, that's for sure.

i shot skeet on your girlfriend.

honestly, i have a couple times. i sucked though. i can hit any stationary target, though. so if you break in my house, stand still.

edit: just noticed that variants of my joke have been used 10 times already. deal with it.

What's the drop on a .22LR like out at that distance? 60-70 inches? That's 5 feet! You're aiming a good deer above the deer! I don't even want to think about wind drift, the energy it's carry out that far, or the odds of crippling a deer. There's a good reason it's illegal to use rimfires on deer here in Florida. You're full of it.

I'm more a sporting clays guy myself, used to shoot up at this place in Dunnellon, high teen's on average, once I learned to follow through. Weapon of choice is an inexpensive Stoeger Over/Under, it's been a good gun considering the price. Been awhile since I've shot, I've been meaning to try out this place in Gainesville I keep hearing about.

I used to shoot skeet with a 12 ga. There's a county-run shooting range about 10 minutes away from where I live so I used to go pretty often.

can they hold the guns properly? that was the biggest problem we had teaching the hooters girls to shoot, they couldnt mount the butt of the shotgun properly, couldnt get their cheek down on the pad and as a result the kick would throw them back and make them miss every time.

yeah, we went through a whole "seminar" on how to hold, how to point and shoot, how to put your cheek down. the first few shots took both of them by surprise, but after they realized how tight to hold it against the shoulder, they were set. hell, they even hit a few.
