I've been doing the math of various tire sizes. I know that most people are going with 215/45-17 wheels and tires, but a 205/60-15 is almost the same size as stock, can use lighter and cheaper 15" wheels, and the tires themselves are cheaper. The only part I haven't been able to figure out yet is weight. I've been letting my OCD surf on the Tire rack web site, and have found that in most cases a 205/60-15 is the same weight or a pound lighter than a 215/45-17.

Is anyone running the 205/60-15 size, and if so do you have any pics?

check out my thread on my gf's car. she has 15s on hers. they are 205/60/15 ContiTrac tires from Continental. good all season tires and a quiet ride. what wheels size do u have? because if u have 15s u cant put 215/45/17 on ur wheels.

Uh yeah, I understand that. I guess my post was ambiguous and I wasn't clear enough. I'm comparing a 215/45-17 on a 17 inch wheel to a 205/60-15 on a 15" wheel. The 15 inch tires are cheaper, the 15 inch wheels are cheaper, and the whole setup is lighter than a 215/45-17 on 17 inch wheels.

That size should work fine. There were a few people on here running that size. I don't remember who they were but it works on the stock wheels and would definitely work on aftermarket 15"s

And one suggestion for a lightweight tire is the General Altimax HP. They seem to get pretty high ratings on tirerack as far as performance and quite a few reviews note a GAIN in mileage.

I'd love to hear about your initial impressions. Are you installing them on the stock steel wheels, OEM alloys, or aftermarket wheels? Also, what brand and model of tire did you go with?

It will be on the stock oem 7 spoke alloys and tires are Sumimoto HTR 200.

I've had those tires on a Civic hatchback. They were excellent. Not very expensive, held the road really well, relatively quiet and far better in the rain than anything else I have used. There is a road near here with 318 curves in 11 miles, and it was my daily commute for about 7 years. I almost always did it on a motorcycle, but from time to time I would take the Civic and I could usually scare a passenger since the tires held so well.

I'd be interested in seeing pics after the install.

Sorry dude. You'll most likely get the pics this friday or saturday. I was too busy wrenching on my S30 lol

But they feel sweet though. Alot better than the stock Continentals. Braking and steering is a lot nicer. Well worth the $200 LOL

Any chance at a side shot of the stock wheels running the 205/60-15's?
