I may very well be very soon. The dealer has my LWRCi M6A2 in and as soon as I get the payment to him it will be on it's way to an FFL in my area. The deal isn't done yet and I hate assume but I can't help but be excited. It's exactly what I wanted!

Here is what it will look like.

This is like buying a Harley. The rifle is just the beginning, it's the accessories that stack up the cost and bring waves of fresh joy like multiple orgasms. I do enjoy my toys.

Not me.

I buy semi-auto guns which have decent ammo availability for reasonable price. So I have 308/223/7.62x39/7.62x54r.

PLus the AR platform just doesn't excite me all that much otherwise I would have more than 1 AR and 2 more lowers to be built.

I will get a 5.56 later, likely a Sig 556.

I still want a POF 308 but availability and price was prohibitive.

6.8 is scarce but so is everything at the moment. Mad will be stockin up on pills in the coming months.

bah..you want .308, get an M1A

the beauty of the 6.8 right now is that you can actually find ammmo while .223 and 7.62 are both a pain in the a** to get...

They just looked like dolled up hunting rifles. They never appealed to me.

The M16 sucks, that is why the military is bringing all the big guns out of retirement. That is also the reason my AR variant has piston drive and a bigger round. I took care of the two main problems with the AR and kept all the good stuff.

I can see owning the Sig in 5.56 as that solves the impingement problem. and the POF in .308 as that solves the "dam, that's an ugly old rifle trying to look new" problem.

the M1A is far from ugly....

you mean the one on top? I don't like it either. I only like the optics-ready flat top ones.

Me? Crazy? Next you will tell me Skylines shouldn't be bubblegum pink and Winnie the Pooh isn't a viable interior pattern.

I would have to have my testicles removed to think that isn't cool.

I would have to distress it so it looked evil like the truck in the duel

that truck is easily one of the coolest big rigs ever to grace celluloid

the thing about the AR is how accurate they tend to be...

I <3 the M1A because even the little SOCOM can run right with an M4 for accuracy and throw a bigger bullet and tends to be more durable.

I also love Springfield Armory.

their customer service is second to none. Gotta love a company that stands behind the product like they do.

I think I'll add one of their 1911's to my lineup whenever I get around to buying 'ol ironside

If I was really trying to make "long distance calls" a true rifle, like the M1 would make sense. I'm not so I lean towards the AR. I can's see seriously considering anything less than a 7.62 for long distance aimed fire. I can hit targets out to 500 yards with 5.56 but not with the confidence and destructive power of the larger cartridge. The chances of me needing to hit anything past 300 yards are virtually nil. The 6.8 is for shooting at things that need to be dead, the 5.56 is for f***in around, killin cans. I just put my second toy on order.

that's why I like the SOCOM, if I could only have ONE rifle, that'd be the one.

look into some of the SBR specific ammo for that..what's not to like about better performance for the shorter barrels

I am taking great pains to stay off the government's radar. I am buying everything with money orders and things like that. I am not going to announce I have a "scary gun" by applying for an SBR stamp. The 556 will remain stockless.

I was referring the "pistol" ya tard

just because it's SBR ammo doesn't mean you can't shoot it in the shorter barrel on that.

they use a faster burning powder in them to get maximum velocity at safe pressures from the shorter barrels.

Ammo is still scarce. I felt kind of silly for snapping up bullets wherever I found them online, now, it looks like I had the right idea. I was b****ing about the price of 6.8 SPC ammo before, buts at least there was some there. Now there's nothin!

I've no idea how I missed this thread before. Let's use both of these quotes to introduce some overkill...

Alexander Arms .50 Beowulf

Plenty of stopping power for TMS and something that might make the AR platform exciting for Bobo. But then at more than $1 per round it better be exciting!

Overpenetration anyone?

Best big round I've fired has been .300 Win Mag but I've heard a LOT of good things about .338 Lapua but I don't know anyone that's got anything chambered for it, so I've never had the chance to see for myself.

Great ammo resource for all of you fellow riflemen.

na, they always closely guard their ammo availability and it hurts their chance for widespread adoption. The Beowulf and Grendel will forever be niche rounds unless they change their marketing strategy.

I'll grant you that you'll run into supply issues when you've got one company supply ammo. I'm kind of partial to them given their name, plus they're local to me. I wonder if I can just zip up the road and pay cash and stay off the radar?

Besides if you're a good shot you won't require many.

I am really itching to sling some .338 Lapua downrange though. I've not had a chance to do any LONG distance shooting in a few years now and I miss it. So much so that I don't even own any rifles at the moment.

When I was younger, my dad and some friends would go hunt prairie dogs in western KS. Farmers would hire them cause the cows would step in the holes and break legs.

In the morning, shots would be from 50-100yds away, but the noise would scare them away. By the end of the day, their range finders were getting on some 630-650yds out that they were able to kill. I don't recall anyone making a 700+yd shot. But not bad for some small bores.

Finally, when I was old enough to buy a gun and go with them, they stopped going.

I'd love it if I had room to prarie dog shoot.

there's some great varmint rounds and rifles out there....a nice long range precision rifle is on my list of things to get.

I might use a HOWA or a Tikka T3 action as the starting point.

both and inexpensive for the quality you get.
