My rack is on its way out and I'm just wondering if anybody has replaced thiers. If so is there anything I'm going to run into thats a little different.. so far everything on this car that I've replaced has been a one-off design so knowing my luck the rack is the same too.

What does his rims have to do with the OP's question in this thread?

Don't hijack the thread to talk about some crap like rims please!!! Send him an email or start your own thread and ask him.

I will now use my moderating powers to delete the off topic posts.

I've never had to deal with a rack. It's a shame there isn't a Haynes manual for the J. Do you have the FSM? I bet it would help you out.

well i've never changed my rack but i was going to have it rebuilt at a point due to my power steering issue but luckily it went away on its own and i saved some money...but from what i know its a pretty big jobmy estimate was for 150$$ for a rebuilt rack at my mechanics shop

and nala , how do you come into this thread asking what a rack is? LOLthen ask about rimswow... talk about random ...i saw the eyebrowsand i know you said not to call them rice but since theyre made of vinyl i have to call them ricy...but they do look alrighti like the creativity though

Yeah, looks much easier in the FSM that it actually does probably once you get there much like other things on the J.

And I'm sure Nala seen "rack" and was like....oooh...I knew it had air bags but never knew you could get boobie implants on the J.....j/k man

Had some hoses and fittings replaced on the steering about 5 years back, I'm sure it wasnt pleasant to do, dealer raped my Mom's wallet on that repair while she had the car.

It fixed it for a while but mine gets stuck in high speed mode and stays stiffer than what it should be, but occasionally it jumps back to regular mode and scares my wife..lol

I never got it fixed b/c quotes were too high for the repair. Mainly due to labor. SO I'm sure it's a bear to actually get into.

Hey thanks for that picture, I haven't even got under the car to look at it closely yet, that gives me a good idea of what to look for. You aren't lying when you say getting to it is probably going to be a different adventure, haha, everything on this car has been so far. I'll let you guys know what is involved IF I actually do it. I havent even looked up the part yet, but if the price make me pucker, I might just call it a loss and sell the car instead. Everything on this car is starting to break.. this rack is just the tip of the iceberg.
