anybody replace the power antenna?

My power antenna broke several years ago. The motor is good, just the nylon track broke. I bought a replacement mask with a new track from Crutchfield, but the remaining broken track inside the antenna prevents me from installing the new one per the instructions.

Anybody have experience with this? Thanks

Quite a few post in the Infiniti Mechanic Forum (where this should be posted).

Must get the old tail out and hope the gears aren't worn too badly.

I had to do this on my wife's Landcruiser. The tail broke inside the motor housing. I had to remove the unit and open up the housing. Not too difficult. I believe that you can get the unit out through the trunk. Pay close attention while taking it apart. I cleaned out the hardened grease and relubed it all with white lithium grease -- works great for the past two years.
