I cant find but like one or two cars from a while back that have it. Does any one have pics of theirs? I WAS getting my ls1 soon but, a nice lt1 with transmission and painless harness fell into my hands for a good price. I Just want to talk to some one who has done it, and see their design on things. Im pretty sure its VERY close to a lsx swap, but i want the maximum amount of information i can take in because i know its a big job. Thanks

I think most people avoid it because of the weight. They are iron and the ls1 is aluminum.

How do you figure? Not being a smartass but I really don't understand your thinking. I guess some of the newer Iron blocks will hold a s***load of HP.

If you are looking for a LS1 setup for a Nissan I am about to pull the LS1 / T56 combo out of my S14. I have something bigger going in I can set you up with a pretty good deal.

I always figured that iron blocks can hold a lot more power than aluminum blocks or they wont break as easy (however you like to see it as), old or new for that matter.

The design of the block is the most important factor. If you look at the aftermarket blocks available for domestic v8s you'll find most of the super high performance blocks are aluminum. They just have more material in the right places.

I didn't mean to hijack this guys thread but if ya wanna know. I am putting in an aluminum 6.2L L92 motor from an 07 Escalade that with a tune and cam makes 530hp at the flywheel. This thing makes 400ft/lbs of torque at 2000rpm I should have it on the road in about 2 months.

My friend weighed his Lt1 swapped 240 and with full interior it weighed, 2750lbs, wich is the same weight as a stock 240, so i wouldn't say weight is a factor, and that thing rips.

Yeah, thats true...i guess it really does all comes down to the design of the block in the end.

Something is off with that weight. Remember tractor scales aren't made to be accurate when weighting a 3000lb car. An LT1 definitely weighs more that a stock ka. I can't find any definite sources, but what I am seeing on chevy websites points to anywhere from a 200 to 400 pound difference.

Nope its the same scales I weighed my old stock 240 at and I got 2740 and his car was 2760 I think. I just weighed my sr 240 gutted and got 2480, my friend with a gutted neon weighed it and got like 2200 something, and all of those are correct for the car and how much weight was taken off, also my stock 240 had hicas.

I don't know what the LT1 weighs but the iron block Gen 3 motors (LS style truck engines) only weigh 65lbs more than the aluminum Gen 3 motors (LS1 LS6 etc.)
