You will need a motor hoist and jackstands. Put the motor in the car and line everything up. Hold it in place with the jackstands. Start cutting 1/4 plate steel and start welding.

Also, check the hybrids forum. You may get some better answers. Although Iowa's answer is pretty good.

Neat Idea!

your definitely going to need somebody to fabricate those from scratch for you. Its not that hard to do but it erequires experience and a welder.

Just a thought on the engine. You might be better off picking something a little bit lighter. The RB is a heavy beast. Maybe something like an SR20 with a nicely sized turbo would work a little better with the 944's character. especially given that putting the big iron 6 up front (if it even fits) will seriously change your suspension and changing the torsion bars on the damn 944s is an experience I for one am not keen to repeat.

Also need to remember your going to have to rewire and plumb the whole darn thing for the new motor so the extra space of a 4 would probably be beneificial there to.

An RB might fit alright. A 944 is very similar to an FC as far as shape goes. People swap 2JZ's, RB's, and LS1's into FC's all the time with great results. I would imagine this swap into a 944 would be very similar as far as the way it changes handling characteristics.
