here's some pics that were posted on az240sx.org. apparently he's doing allright, but he has a fractured hip, and can't walk for 6 weeks or so. He's been released from the hospital. The drunk driver didn't have insurance, and alfred only had liability:( there's afew threads on az240sx discussing buying him a new chassis to put the CA in, which I think is an awesome idea! I wish him a fast recovery and good luck with the new CA project:)

Hey guys. I didn't realize there was a thread about this here. Those pictures are so sad to look at....Anyway, I'm not gonna be walking or using a clutch for about 3 months, the doctors said. however I'm getting another hatchback tomorrow and then the swapping process will begin w/ the help of all my friends. I do plan to sue the guy as soon as I get the police report, but he was driving a POS van and he looked penniless. We'll see what happens. Wish me luck!

I'm game with dumping in a few dollars to get him back on track.

On another note, my friend carshed his SR powered SDS (Dee-tuned) S14 into a cement pole at about 35 mph and fractured his hip. Everyone I know around here that has crashed these cars always have an hip injury or leg and lower back injury. I definitely have concluded that although the 240 is a good/balanced fun car, it does not take a good impact and leaves not too much safety for the driver. So all of you wanna be drifters and high-speed dippers, chill. I know this case wasn't Alfred's fault, but for those that like to race, if you lose control of that car and it's passenger compartment is the impact point, you may as well bow down and suck your own sausage because you will be owned.

We had one guy here nearly get disintegrated in his S13 with RB25 and yes he's DEAD and so is his passenger. My sentra spared my life twice and I am in debt to it. But the 240 is a different kind of car, so becareful guys.

Btw, I know because I got 26 stitches in my face after smacking a pole at nearly 80mph after sliding over 123 yards (60 on cement and 63 on cement) and here's a picture to prove it:

Most of the crashes I hear about with 240SX's people almost allway literally walk away from them, no matter how bad. It's rare I hear of fatalities. Of course, doing things like an RB swap (where half the time people have to play with cross members or custom engine mounts or other aftermarket engineering) might decrease the crashworthiness. The S13's did get good NHTSA or whatever ratings, better than S14 for what its worth (despite or perhaps because of the airbags)..

One guy here in dallas (well, plano) lost control on Plano Parkway (has some S curves in it that anything over the speedlimit and you're getting at least SOME lateral pull, and at the speed he was going was probably barely making the corner even w/ good tires etc) IIRC while bouncing off the limiter (it caused him to 'drift' and spin out from throttle lift oversteer), took out the sprinkler in the median and knocked over a light pole AND its cement block and then took out about 3 trees and opened the door and walked away.. or at least thats how I remember it, I might be misremembering the details..

and there was the guy who supposedly went off a 400 ft cliff awhile back and climbed back up (it wasn't a sheer cliff, more like a really tall hill) after getting out of the car.. so it takes some effort to really kill yourself, as long as you haven't botched the crashworthiness of the vehicle somehow. but yeah, you get in an accident and you gonna get at least a little bit hurt.

ive seen a s13 with the headlight sittin where the driver was, and the motor where the dash was, he struck a pole at well over 70mph DOA . and what really sucks is for us big guys if we get side impacted like alfred we are screwd cause its goin to crush us and the passenger at the same time. i fear my car at highspeeds this summer i will have a full cage in it before i attempt any 120mph or higher runs on the highway. alot of guys here like to race 50-150 or higher. and we have had our share of 100+ mph wrecks not pretty and only one or two deaths but they should have been avoided

yeah, the s13 seems to do alright for not killing people, though being a small car it is easily owned by newer vehicles which all seem to be 10 times the size of my car. because of the gearing i would much rather go slowly but get to my desired speed (say, 50mph) in just a few seconds. it screams too much for too long at high speeds for my liking.

alfred, im a little late but im glad youre okay and hope you make a quick recovery, with a hearty portion of drunk-being-taken-to-the-cleaners action on the side. good luck with the new car, hope you can re-use most of the stuff from your old car.

Sorry to hear about your wreck, Alfred. Its good to know that you survived it though.

As for crashworthiness of the 240sx... i hit a telephone pole at 95mph and the only injury i had was a few broken knuckles, but that's from when i flipped out and started punching the pole. lol.so in conclusion:Street racing on back country roads when you've owned the car for only a month = badPunching a telephone pole after surviving a high speed accident without a scratch = immense stupidity

i'm such a retard.
