ok, i have a 1997 240sx se.it has 4 codes..1 is the second o2 sensor.

the sensor is frozen so torching needs to be done.but im worried it will end up being a bad cat as well.

if i were to run a straight pipe from the manifold to the 2nd cat and relocated the 2nd o2 sensor behind the 2nd cat, would i still be able to pass emissions? (AZ)

yeswell, axle back exhaust (HKS)the 2nd cat was replaced, but the 1st may be bad..do you know if the 2nd cat would work on its own?with a relocated 2nd o2 sensor?

I have only one cat on my 97, thanks to a obx header. my downstream sensor is in a bung that was made into a replacement cat I bought.

if you have the sniffer test...only one cat might not be enough...just a thought.

so you only have the second cat?did you relocate the 2nd o2 behind the rear cat?

well, as far as i know, they use the obd scanner, and test the gas cap..

thats all i saw from the car in front of me the other day when i tried to see if clearing the codes would work

well it's not the original 2nd cat...but I have only one.yep, the downstream sensor is behind the cat.

yeah, clearing everything out makes your OBD readiness monitors go back to the before test stage...and they need to be ready to test or passed the test.
