ok I used to drive a S13 w/a DOHC and now I drive a daily driver s13 SOHC and my DOHC had custom exauhst, cold air... but the SOHC is owned by 1 whole owner who was a doctor and the engine is immaculkate. but when I floro it i dubnno if its me not hearing exaughst noise but it seems like really slow liek my moms ford windstar with a V6 2.4 liter gets more kick that the SOHC???

sombody help I am wodnering if the engine sucks or its just the fact of single cam vs dual. btw. car only has 110 same with motor. owned by a doctor.

my cousin has a 93 and i own a 90 , de's a quicker stock but from what your sayin, it shouldnt be that slow. i can drop mine to second and get the tires to break. try giving it a full tune up, and get new distributur, plugs and wires and see if that helps. is it auto or maned?

its a manual. its had 1 owner and the guy was this nerdy doctor who I KNOW never drove it beyond 3rpm. It was maintenced really well. maybe its the fact that im used to my really good fast freak DOHC and not used to the less power of the SOHC? I mean is the difference that noticable? I mean sombody with experience please tell me? it seems kind of like if im at 2.5 rpm in 5th it accelrates pretty good but not as good as my DE did.

PLEASE HELP if you have eprience in both stock DE, and Stock E, tell me if you can see a noticable difference and how big of a difference it is? thanks.

btw its a manual.

i have driven both also. the 89-90 carpet looked funny to me, the clutch line seemed to be shorter to me, power felt the same since i didnt really floor it i only revved to about 2800 every gear and at 2800 the power is pretty similar. so i cant really tell u anything but either way youre either gonna sr or ka-t so yeah doesnt matter haha

stock ka24e puts out about 140hp at the crank. ka24de with exhaust and CAI will make around 170 at the crank. the difference should be noticable, but i dont believe it would really be that much faster. it really could very well be the exhaust, i know i thought i saw a difference when changing exhausts on my daily driver but it was mostly just the noise.

i've had both i had a 89 5speed coupe 255000mi and now i got a 91 5speed hatchback 182000mi. i drove hard on the 89 and it was decent i've beat a dohc s13 with a intake and exhaust by a half a car. mine was bone stock but it might have been cuz it was lighter i never made it to the track though the 91 ran 15.8 at 85mph at the track stock.

my sohc ran high 15's with just exhaust. and it pulls to redline unlike the DE's.. also, the 89 hatch is lighter than the 91-93 hatch.. the reason why the DE has 15 or 10 more hp is cause of the comp. change. the E had 8.6:1 and the DE had 9.5:1 thats a big diff. right there.. i dont think the cams do **** for it stock

I have drove a bunch of DE and Es. The DE tend to be faster but I have driven a few slow dohcs. Right now my friend had a SOHC that pulls to redline hard with 150K. I can't explain it. It was a lil faster than my DOHC stock for stock. I have also drove many SOHC that were slower. Some engines are just faster than others stock for stock.

When I had my single cam, stock it was decent but didnt make it to redline very easlily. After tune up, exhaust, intake open air filter and better gas, it could hit redline with no problem. My friend has a dual cam with the exact same mods, and his car was faster top end, but mine pulled harder off-idle to 4k. Just depends on what you do to it.

with my old sohc that was rebuilt and a few mods done to the motor was way faster then my dohc that i have now, personally i would have rather kept my old sohc except for the fact that it looked like **** and it basically was a piece of ****, where as my new car is damn near immacualte. another reason why i bought a dohc is the product support behind it, sure you can find a lot of parts for the sohc but it easier to find dohc parts. but a lot of the times it does matter on how the engine was maintained and if it has had regular tune ups if any at all
