I searched and came across a posting that said the pods for the Miata seemed close. Has anybody installed them yet? It's my understanding the pods for the coupe will not work because of curvature or something... ?

Pics would be appreciated. I'm decent with a dremel

Also, has anybody tried the 'universals' from http://www.glowshiftdirect.com ?

I really need to put at least a temp gauge in, since the stock one is obviously quirky. Seems to work, but every once in a while, it'll just climb all the way to max and come back down. Makes me not trust it at all.... Nervous in Texas heat...

Oh, and there's no way in hades that I'm taking out ANY A/C vents for this! Not in H-town.

Glow Shift makes pod for our cars I started with a dual but ended up with a triple.Heres a shot of the triple.

heres a dual

The triple goes all the way to the top of the a pillar, the dual ends at the gauge.

Oh Crap forgot I was looking in the vert section. I have a coupe

Bingo.

Haven't seen a vert with A-pillar pods yet. Would like to find some that fit eventually.

If the dual one ends at the gauge, then wouldn't it fit the vert? I was reading the reason the normal ones don't fit is b/c of the seat belt deal on the coupes that the vert doesn't have. Like it bows out at the top or something. Looks like the dual ends like 3/4 of the way up...

Do you still have the dual pod and want to donate it for experimentation?

I was thinking about getting one on ebay, but I don't wanna waste the money if others have already found it to be no worky...

He was talking about how the triple goes all the way to the top of the A pillar, but the dual doesn't. They're still molded in the trapezoidal shape to fit the contour of the moulding for the auto seatbelts.

I modified a dual autometer pod to fit my vert, but it's not perfect. I just sanded down the contour till it fit the triangular shape of our moulding.

I would really love it if we could make a full a pillar replacement for the verts, but it's too cost prohibitive to do.

Another option I never got a chance to look at was Miata gauge pods. They're interior trim has a similar contour to ours, but I never got ahold of one to test the theory.

I see... Thanks for clarifying.

I was thinking the shape would be the same most of the way up the pillar. Seems silly that they would change that so much.

Has anybody checked the pods from the Z31 (84-88 300zx) for fitment? I used to have one of those, and I'm fairly sure the shape and pitch is very similar. And typically Nissan likes to keep things cheap.... Maybe I can run over to a wrecking yard and pull a pillar from a 300 and see if it more or less replaces ours...
