Many RX-7 guys use this turbo.

I've mapped out the T04b Vtrim for the KA and it just wasn't quite as good as the T04E .50 trim. And since they're about the same price, most people opt for the T04E.

However, the T04b is not a bad turbo, so long as you get the V trim.

The trim of any turbo wheel is the ratio between the area of the minor diameter and major diameter. The T04B (as well as most otehr turbo wheels) come in different trim for a given designation. KATwo40 is referring to one of the trim levels available for the T04B compressors. If you search for some turbo maps you'll find several different ones for the T04B. They will list the trim next to each one.

The turbo will work well up to moderate boost, but will start to become inefficient and higher boost levels and flow rates. The T04E family of turbos are more modern and have better efficiency across the board. The 50 trim T04E is about the best one out there for many applications to NA motors that are somewhere in the 150HP range. It has one of the most flexible efficiency ranges I've seen on any turbo and would work well for most KA applications.

AS far as the 4 bolt flange, tyou should have no problem finding the materials to have a downpipe made. It's actually a pretty popular flange. It sounds like you might already have a downpipe though. If you do and it was designed for some version of the T04 turbine, you might check to see if it would be simpler to replace the turbine housing that has the corresponding mating surface to your downpipe. Make sure to check and match the trim of the turbin wheel to the turbine housing. This would give you an opportunity to check and adjust the A/R ratio of the turbine if the one you have isn't the A/R you desire.

Both Nsport and XS Engineering use a version of the T04B turbo. I had the XS kit and it worked fine for the 6-7 psi it ran. If I had decided to go higher though, I'd opt for the T04E 50 trim.
