In the quest for an upgraded intercooler I've considered a lot of options. There are about a million ways people have mounted and routed their FMIC's that i've seen. Some ideas are good, some are not, some are just scary. One thing I havn't seen anyone even mention is a water to air intercooler setup. Yes it would be expensive, and a little more complex, but you could keep charge piping to a min for better response and if you're out at the drag strip, just dump in some ice water to your resivoir for better performance without the need for some crazy 300+ dollar n20 IC sprayer setup.discuss!

Most the guys I have met at the track running SR's, VW1.8t's and Turbo Hondas are actually going to Sam's Club and buying Air Duster in bulk so they can use it on trackdays. If you have ever turned a can of Duster upside down and sprayed it, some kind of chemical reaction makes it freeze, about one full can will get a thin layer of frost on your IC. I don't know how cost effective it is compared to the c02 IC spray kits they have out, but its a cheap easy way to freeze the IC. Just a suggestion.

its ghetto, i love it. maybe I should ditch my windshield wiper IC sprayer setup in favor of the duster cans?

Pricey though. Often like 3-5 dollars for a single can. Might as well run race gas...

Why not just run a tank of compressed CO2 and plumb it up to spray the intercooler? It would do the same thing and be cheap to refill.

As far as water to air intercooler, I've always wondered about a setup that is streetable. I mean that I wouldn't have to dump a bucket of ice into anythingto go out at night.
