could be a grounding issue or a short. worst case scenario the screen is out and you might have to replace the unit itself.

The Bose units were anything but bulletproof.

The one in my 96 started having screen problems about 3 years ago. It would flicker and go out. Knocking it a little normally brought it back. Then the CD started skipping alot and then it wouldn't play anymore.

I tried fixing it myself, but that just made things worse. Plus disassembling that beast is a real chore.

Most Bose repair shops will charge you about $150-$200 to repair it and they will also do preventative maintenance on it.

I happened to find a shop locally that repaired another unit I bought on Ebay. I bought it for $15 and paid $80 to have it repaired. Works pretty good. I just wish I didn't trash the first unit and had them fix that one instead (it sounded better-different style unit).

It's the backlighting on the display. I doubt that you'll be albe to find a replacement part for it at a reasonable price.

Just thought of something.

Clarion actually has a phone number for a replacement part distributer out here in California.

I don't have their number, but you should be able to contact Clarion and get their info.

The volume switch on my HU was only like $7.50 from them.

i got an alpine deck i could sell to you but you will have to buy an amp and audio wire to replace the bose amps under the back seats... the stock radio sucks anyways.... in my brothers maxima you start the car and the tape deck starts making a clacking noise and stops but it randomly goes off i would like to help him get a new deck with amps but i gotta get my car done frist so i can give him my old stuff...
