yesterday i was driving in my 240. My 240 has some new tires that the previous owner put on them...regul sport/challenger something like that. well..i figured out i don't need to drive very fast when its raining kinda hard cuz i was hydroplaning a hella lot. i was wondering what tires i should get that will not let me hydroplane or will they all do that? i was thinking yokohama...

the more sport you go in terms of thread.. the more it will slip on wet pavement.. but some are better then others., but usually this will happen

i dont think it is possible to make a 240 safe in the rain other than weighting the trunk/hatch, paradas are good when wet but are really expensive.

well tires are one thing in my mind that u cant skimp out on...you can ghetto rig certain things...but tires are one that you simply cannot...i say this bceause you cant eventually upgrade the tires you bought...u have to replace them

My tires used to hydroplane as well. Then I got Yokohama Parada spec 2s and I drive in the rain like I drive on dry pavement. They offer superior traction and are z rated low profile tires. I am telling you they are one of the best if not the best tires out there. I would recommend them to anyone. They go for $104 a piece including shipping on http://www.tirerack.com. Good luck.

kumho ecsta supra 712's work GREAT in the rain! i was surprised as hell..

if it gets cold, the supra 712s dont work worth **** tho. rain/dry weather, they're really good tires.. pretty cheap too :)

I had falken Ziex's, and they did well on my crx. It also weighed 2000 lbs, so that may have something to do with it.

I have Pirelli P7000 Super Sports. They're pretty good in the rain. I wouldn't say I could drive like I do on dry pavement, but I can drive pretty close to it. I hit standing water yesterday and it scared the sh** out of my friend, but no tire would help you there.

I used to always squawk the tires in the rain until I put 75+ lbs worth of subs, amps and box in my hatch. In retrospect though, that was also the 1st month or so with my new rear wheel drive. And no, I don't see the speakers in my trunk as a "fix" for bad traction, It's just set up that way right now. Eventually I want to get rid of all that weight and do some custom mounting in my trunk but by then I'll have my Nittos anyway so hopefully wet tractiopn won't be a problem.

It's the uber scary moment where the water cant get out from underneath your tires fast enough and your car actually floats/slides across the surface of the water, you have no control at all and the best thing you can do is not touch a thing, dont steer, dont accelerate, dont brake...just glide across and hope you can catch it on the other side of the big puddle :D

Yeah, in my old camry with bald tires I spun a nice 180 doing about 40...you dont have to be going too fast, especially if you hit standing water

Hydro plaining is just one of the joys of driving in the rain. Although there are tires that are made to help from hydro plaining there is no 100% cure to keep you from doing it.

tires have a lot to do with it but don't overlook your shocks either. they can contribute to hydroplaning just as bad if they are worn.
