I thought it might be a good idea to help fellow NICO members do a SR swap or even a KA Turbo install. It would be a good experience and you could first hand see what it takes to make one work. It would be really cool if we could organise something like this and have volunteers go over somebody`s house and help out. Then we could all learn and get better at it. Another excuse for a road trip.

Great idea, its just hard to get someone to let other people touch the bread and butter of their car. If you really want to learn the workings of cars, most local community colleges offer automotive night classes for money thats well worth it for the performance enthusiast.

Or you could just start taking apart your car and putting it back together. Worked for me

No I am pretty decent mechanic. I just don`t have experience with SR swap or turbos.

If you have the mechanical aptitude, you dont need any before hand experience. My SR swap was literally the first project I have ever done on a car. Anyways, what fun is it if yah dont have to figure it out yourself?

That's how i got my Swap done. I met about 3 guys here on Nico that live in my area and help me out with the swap. The swap IS NOT THAT HARD but time consuming and frustrating (cause you can't wait to drive the sob), I started on August 9th and finish on the 31st and i **** you not, before the swap, i didn't even know how to change the spark plugs. Just make sure you do a LOT of research, that's how i made it through....oh yeah, make sure you curse and scream a lot, it helps

You're from Birmingham? I frequent the area about once every 3-4 months, I'll be up there again in November. Maybe i can stop by and check it out

PEACE

reason it took so long for him is because Heavy Throttle ****ed him over and lied that the motor was shipped a week earlier, so we all took off for that week, the motor never showed, so we all had to put in a little bit of time each day, which sucked.

A little harsh. I work in the food production industry (lots of shipping) durring the summer and there is NO guarentee that trucks will show up on time, freight shipping is not as simple as dropping your package off at fedex. Compared to some of the arseholes I have delt with, heavythrottle has been an extreme pleasure. Maybe next time wait for the motor to arrive first before sceduling an entire week off? Your an awesome person for doing that for a friend though

rseabrooke, you live in B'ham? That's cool. I use to live there. Then when I got into cars, I had to come to Cali to learn more and indulge myself more in the scene. I'll be coming back soon once the car is finished. I remember some bad azz roads and S-turns that would be just lovely for drifting. I doubt there's many 240s there, or at least that's what friends tell me.

I'm doing a swap on my S13 here pretty soon....I got my friends garage with power tools a lift and everything you could possibly imagine. I basically have a whole bay to myself when we begin the swap and that is a HUGE convenience (gotta say thanks to my bro Derek). I have very limited mechnichal knowledge, but I assure you I'm determined to do this swap. I went to this local Import shop (dreamakers kustom) just to see how much they would charge to do this swap and they said $1100. Forget that man, for $1100 I could buy some nice parts and have some pride in my ride knowing that I did it. Plus the shop started making fun of my s13 because it's old....morons don't even know why these cars are so good. they are stuck on thier honda's...Yeah I would love to have someone help me out when I begin the swap. That would be sweet, but I don't think any NICO members live close to me...

best thing to do is buy a sr and do it yourself with little help and do research, thats how i did mine and I learned a sh it ton and could probably do another swap and get it running perfect without any problems at all. I do have to thank the guys on this forum because i got all my questions answered on nico, 240sxforums.com blows.

Well J-Spec, HT told him that their motor was in stock and reasdy to ship. We called them after the estimated shipping date and they said the motors weren't even in the US yet, so I can be real harsh about that.

But yeah, I would definately like to help someone, hopefully it can go better than what Hailtothesilva and me had to put up with

That is the whole point of this post. For fellow NICO members to get together and help each other out.
