Post a few pics of it and maybe someone will be able to identify it. Measure the outlet and inlet sizes and you will have a rough idea.

ok, im stupid. i thought that the two holes on either side of the oil hookup were used to bolt down some sort of oil line, flame all you want. any help would be greatly appreciated.

A quick google suggests that it may be from L28ET 280ZX or 84-87 VG30ET 300zx. But both of those engines are so old I can't find the exact specs without wasting all day on it.

according to wiki, the 1984 VG30ET turbo was the last year it was cooled by oil only, 1985 they added water cooling.

Still not positive on the origin of this Turbo, but I can tell you that it is not from an L28et. I used to have a '79 that I put an '82 turbo engine in. Those turbos were slightly bigger. Still had dual ports off the comp housing for the wastegate.

Just thought of this... there was an L20et (4cyl). Not sure what car it came in, but I read about it as I was doing research for piston ring dimensions on an L20e (6cyl) I was rebuilding.

Alright, thanks for the info. Feeling dumber by the minute, but what does dual ports off the compressor housing for the wastegate mean? Is that good or bad? Not trying to degrade nissan at all, just that I have seen a turbo that came off of a turbo 4 mustang and it had the straight vanes on the compressor and that should be from around the mid to late 80's. Are the japanese the originators of the more aerodynamic turbos? Oh yeah, it has airresearch printed on the turbo also, dont know if this helps, and no it doesnt have water lines, the holes are for bolts. Would a shop that rebuilds turbos be able to identify it? Thanks to everyone posting and helping.

also, would it be worth buying all of the necessary parts, mani, pipes, lines, etc., and installing it on my kade? what kind of inlet size on the compressor would be the minimum to run on this motor? One more question, does the ar on the turbine side adjust to turbo size or is it a universal #?
