My parents have been kicking around getting rid of their X5 for a while now, and I told them I like my G so much that they are going to go look at the FX35's.

I did a quick inventory search, which didn't yield a lot of info. They want the AWD, and like the Plat Grafite, but their don't seem to be that many cars around that aren't bare bones.

Any help, connections, or insight that you can offer would be greatly appreciated. TIA.

I've only dealt with 2 dealers out here in SoCal. I would stay away from Infiniti of Montclair like the plague. Their parts department was really nice and helpful, but the sales people (including the sales manager that helped me) are all crooks.

They were extremely pushy and had a G that had paint damage, water spots on the leather, and some other issues and wouldn't budge on their price. When I told them how much I wanted to spend each month, they came back to me with a 30% increase and tried to bypass it like it was no big deal.

Riverside Infiniti has been really nice to me. I know one of the parts guys their personally and their sales team was much nicer to deal with than the Montclair dealership. The sales person I dealt with knew quite a bit about the vehicle (the montclair sales manager couldn't even tell me if the G's back seat folded down).

Thanks for the info. What's Tom's last name, or does he have a specific title (SM, Fleet Mgr, etc)?

My parents are in Fullerton, so they'd probably service at either Cerritos or Tustin. Sales, on the other hand, they'll go to whichever dealer is the best to deal with, has the best selection, and gives the right deal. Thanks again for all of the info.

I just bought my car from John Najafinia at Mission Viejo Infiniti. Really nice guy, we did everything over the phone and I would have been in/out of the dealership in an hour if the detailing guys didn't take so long (but I am glad they did)

My pleasure. Let him know I referred you, he should take care of your parents.

BTW they have a beautiful Moonlight white/ Wheat, Fully Loaded FX35, sitting on their showroom floor with a bow on it waiting for your parents.

I sent them your name for the referral. They like the white, but are looking for black interior with the piano trim.

They drove it at Cerritos and said it handled the expansion joints on the 605 pretty roughly compared to their '02 X5, so they're probably going to go drive the FX and new X5 back to back to compare. I told them when we were looking at the X5 that it rides pretty firm as well. It may just be the change in technology (newer cars seem to be getting firmer).

BTW, I just noticed you live in Ladera. That's where we moved from when we moved to Dallas in '04. I loved it there. Nothing like it here. Definite small world.

It is a small world! Ladera is nice, but still a bit quiet. They have done a lot of changes since '04. Lots of new restaurants and a sports bar!

Well, they ended up pulling the trigger this week! They got an '09 FX35 rwd Blue Slate/Black w/piano with Prem, Tech, and Nav. They ended up buying from Cerritos, but the car had to be sourced from Oregon. They picked it up last night and are quite happy so far, especially because they can now talk on the phone while driving.

What's interesting is that they got more on their X5 trade from Infiniti than BMW would give them. They even got more today that Bimmer was going to give them a year ago!

I'll be in So Cal Monday - Saturday for the holidays, so I can't wait to see it. Funniest part of the whole situation is that in the last 6 months, we've gone from 4 germans in the family to 4 Infinitis! Good times.
