for teh 6sp to work you need custom driveshaft, and a S15 Diff - then you'll hafta rewire the vss stuff bc the speed sensor on HLSD (S15) is on the diff.

im sure it can be done but im sure it'd be cheaper and better to buy a 6sp transmission from HKS or greddy... if u really want it that is.

Why would you want to?

Reports say that the SR 6-speed is weaker than the SR 5-speed.

So, considering the SR transmission internals are about the same as the KA, you are fine. Unless you are just doing the to say that you have a 6-speed transmission, the extra cost and effort put into it is NOT worth it IMHO.

but freeway driving on 6th gear at low rpm saves gas =).

the 6 speed transmission is actually pretty strong lots of false information spreading around. probably rather spend the money on other drivetrain parts like a carbon driveshaft, lightweight chromoly flywheel for psycho response and of course a 2 way clutch lsd instead.

well here is something, i thought the ka transmission would not fit the sr engine and vice versa. that is last i checked, now if there is new news that they fit, and i have not heard of it , then it maybe something else.

w if it was true but i heard if you switch the bellhousing from the ka trany to the sr you ca make it fit... and i was thinking why not just switch the ka bellhousing on to the sr 6 speed.... one of the reasons i wanted to do this is because there arre aftermarket gear sets for the sr transmission but not the ka and yes im prepared to pay like 3 gfrand for the swap

yeah--im ka trans now with SR... its same cept bellhousing EVEN THE GEARING IS SAME!

so aftermarket gearsets for sr will fit KA - i was told this a long time ago....

but still 6sp means u need the HLSD, custom DS, and crap like that

just buy the HKS or Grex.

well if you used a s15 rear end and a s15 driveshaft... what really do you need thats custom... i can wire pretty much anything up... and ive seen s15 trannys with diffs and driveshaft for like $1500 (btw i would be getting a helical lsd which i want too)while hks six speeds are like $10k

I dunno how good those HKS/Grex sequentials are either...

I've had mixed experiences with clutchless manuals, some blip downshifts very well (RS6), others are very harsh and jerky (M3 & MR-S) which really negatively impacts car control.
