Hi - Have a 2008 Rogue S, live in frigid Wisconsin. I am very dissatisfied with heat to my feet. Even if switch is turned to 'foot only' setting, air comes out the middle vents. Is this normal? At max heat and max fan settings, still is only a trickle of hot air coming out at my feet. Could thermostat be off, or is this just the way it is? Any way to maximize heat to my feet and 'turn off' middle vents (other than just manually close them, which doesn't help force any more air to my feet.) Thanks for advice

Sounds like the internal switch doesn't switch to well - i would take it back to the dealer to have it fixed.

My foot heat sucks too, but I don't think I have any coming out the front vents when it's set to foot. But I too am dissappointed in the foot heat, and the back foot vents are even worse (under the front seats). I have always assumed that this was just a design limitation, but if you find out otherwise and there is a way to improve this, please let me know!

Thanks.

There is no way to direct all the air to the footwells.

great information as usual philipa. does it happen to also state why the air coming from the center vents is cooler than the air coming from the vents at the corners of the dash by the doors?

Nope. But if feel like doing some reading, goto the Official Rogue FAQ and click the link for the service manual. All you need to know about the Rogue can be found there.

I agree with Marsch55, the heat for the feet is not the best feature for the Rogue (more noticeable when the car sat for the day in -25C and you hope to get your feet warm before they fall).

But I am like Kerrton on this, this is just bad design, I don't think you can do much about that. I think part of the problem is that you cannot select the recirculation mode on when you have selected the feet only, meaning the air comes from the most part from the engine bay... which is cold.

My solution is to choose the front and feet mode to be able to select the recirculation mode on until the engine warms up a bit and at about 50-60C water temperature (which is about 3 to 4 squares if you don't have a scangauge), I turn the recirculation mode off and a little bit later move to feet only mode full blast for a while.

The other advantage of that is that if you warn up the inside of the car, sooner or later the feet zone will be warm too.

Another thought here. Have you replaced your in-cabin air filter yet? If it's plugged, it will restrict air to the blower and impact performance of the heater.

The filter is a bit tricky to change. You can leave it to the dealer or read-up the Service Manual here on page VTL-24 and replace it yourself.

Put it on the defrost/feet setting. I think it is better then just the plain feet setting. That is what I do with my wifes.

You can try closing all four of your vents and that should redirect more airflow to the other locations.

I had the same problem. I'm kind of a wimp when it comes to the cold.I'm in the building business so I first put some insulation up under the dash and against the fire wall. I used the unfaced fiberglass type by Johns/Mansville. Secondly, I used some duct tape and redirected thewarm air outlet tube more to the area of my feet. Insulating the area and redirecting the heat flow has solved my problem and now those -25 degrees below zero days are much more tolerable. I hope that this helps you.

Or, you guys could move down here to balmy Iowa. Seriously, it is a problem. Even here, I have to wear heavier socks. The Rogue is quite roomy and I'm sure that contributes to the problem.

Um... I would not suggest using fiberglass insulation. The idea of blowing tiny bits of fiberglass all over the car does not sound appealing.

You can purchase synthetic insulation similar to what is in the car already. You can find it online. ie. JCWhitney

slightly off the topic here. Anyone ever felt cold air (heat on in cold weatrher) coming up somewhere below the stearing wheel?

It often feel like it takes a long time for the car (inside) to get warm. Like there's cold air keep coming into the car from somewhere...

only when a/c on. It is take a longer to warm up for this car rather for example on my a4 (still miss it). It is commin a hot air from vents when the car warmed up to 1/2 or close to it.

I had cold toes this morning, even after 10 minutes of driving, so I thought it'd be appropriate to revive this thread, some good ideas to address the issue.
