Any way to add more tension to upper timing chain?

Information on the naturally-aspirated KA24E and KA24DE engines.

Not really sure but should the upper timing chain have slack in it because it just seems like the tensioner isnt puttin enough pressure on the chain and its making it kinda sag. Its nothing crazy like the chain is going to fall off but it kinda bothers me a little bit and im thinking that it could have been making the knocking noise I would hear at idle which I thought was a lifter tick. If anyone knows anything about this or knows how to adjust the tensioner to put more pressure on the chain then please help me ASAP cuz I need to get my car back together and dont really wanna do it before I know watsup with the chain.

Dunno about SOHC motors. But the DOHC upper chain will be a bit saggy if the engine is off.. The chain tensioner is operated by your oil pressure. No oil pressure = no tension on the chain. That's why when it's not running, it seems a bit slack.

I'm terrible at explaining things. I hope someone got that.. lol
