The left rear is whining a bit and the dealer wants my left n*t to replace it. Thought that if it was easy enough I'd change out both of the rear side bearings.

Is there a link anywhere on this procedure?

Thanks in advance.

Do I need to replace the hubs as well so I don't have to press the bearings in? The car has 150k+ miles on it.

H E L P please.

Funny that the left rear and right front usually fail first........ on all Q......the others are not fair behind.

You purchase a bearing assembly for each different side............a couple hours per side with all necessary tools and lift.

What does dealer want $550-$600?

Yeah, it was in the upper $600 range.

Are there any special tools I need? And when you mention Wheel Bearing Assembly, what does that entail exactly? Are there diagrams on a site anywhere?

I do all the work on my old BMWs and know where to get all the diagrams and writeups for this kind of stuff but I usually take the Q45 in for work. However I can't see paying that much to put in some wheel bearings if I can do it myself. I just don't want to get started and find out that I need a special tool or that I need to press them in with a special press or something.

Thanks.

I would think that a dealership is not the way to go, wheel bearings are such a common part, I have a good aftermarket mechanic that is 1/2 the labor rate of the dealership that could easily do this. Do NOT take it Firestone, Goodyear, Pep boys or any place like that, those places in my experience just do more damage than good. Look around for a good japanese car mechanic and it will cut the job down to 1/2 price for labor. Also you could get the parts you need from Scotsdale at 1/3 off the reg price too.
