Ever see this?

Image

Noticed this today while rotating my tires and doing my Gs 44th oil change

Does this look like a possible future blowout?
Thinking about replacing the tires
Only 43k miles on my Bridgestone Turanza 235-45-18 with 5/32 left

Not an expert, but I would replace that ASAP if it were me.
When the Firestone/Exploder deal happened, I replaced them with Michelon tires before knowing whether they would reimburse.....then, I traded the car.....due to suspicions that the rear end design caused the failures......
I recommend a good set of Yokos. :yesnod

I'd replace them too. 43k on tires is great for a sports sedan!!

Loved my Yokos too...

I still have the stock rubber on my sedan, so I'll tell you about my 05 coupe...not the best comparison, but you'll get an idea on how much better the aftermarket tires were.

My stock rubber on my 05 coupe lasted 8k or so. I first used Toyo Proxies, which made it to 17k, so it was a big difference. The Yoko S-Drives were still on with good tread at 30k when I sold it.

I plan on sticking with the S-Drives for my sedan.

Rachel's 00 Max had Yoko Avids and we got about 32K miles out of the before replacing, but they had around 5/32nds left. Also, she drives like a bat out of hell and I know I didn't rotate as often as you do!!! So, I'm sure that you could get much better mileage!!! :yesnod
I wanted her to have better tread for the snowy NC mountains.
We also sold the used Avids on Craigslist and made some extra $$$ since they still had good tread. (I normally replace at 4/32nd.)

Her new tires are Yoko Envigor's 60K mileage warranty
At the time, Nissan dealers were offering buy 3 get 1 free.
I got Discount Tire to beat their deal. $573.60 out the door (08/10/2010)

The S-drives were great! I only got about 20K before getting the DWS's.....again, they still had good tread so I sold them on Craigslist....You would not be considering these anyway.

Rich

I was originally going to go with the Bridgestone Turanza. The dealer price quoted was less than Tire Rack and Tire Rack wanted $45 to ship the tires.
The Bridgestone tires came in but one of them had a date code from 2008
The Michelins although a more expensive tire are a Z rated tire vs W rated for Bridgestone. The Michelins had September 2010 date codes and the dealer sold them to me for the same price as the Bridgestones.
I'm happy but broke

W rated would have been fine for you. They are not as sticky but they would last longer than a Z rated tire.

I would have gone with the Bridgestone W rated tires except one of them had a date code from 2008 and another replacement could not be found. Had very good mileage with the 3 sets of Bridgestones that I went thru. 47k, 53k,and 44k. I still had 5/32 left but with the crack in one of them I decided to replace them.

You did good on the tires. For your location and driving style, those Michelins are a good call.

I missed this thread earlier, but the old ones appear to have been slightly overinflated (but not much). That damage isn't terribly unusual, there's a lot of additional weather-checking across the rest of the tire. I've seen that condition on other BStone tires, and I'm not a fan of them at all.

43K miles is way past what I keep on any of my cars, but I'll sacrifice a few bucks for safety. Good job passing on the stale BStone - they're idiots for trying to sell you a 3+ year old tire.

If a shop had done the tire rotation it is highly likely they would have missed the damaged tire. That is why I like doing it myself even though it is a bit of a PITA
