I :facepalm: :facepalm: :facepalm: :facepalm: :facepalm: recently purchased a 1994 Q45T with 75k. It ran brand new at first, untill against the advise of the seller i put low grade fuel in it...Now no power, engine light is on, I tried cleaners, octane boost going back to top grade fuel, no difference.. Very responsive in park. put it in gear and it is incredibly slow and non responsive untill approx. 50 MPH? Also keyless entry doesnt work. I installed a new antenna thinking that would help solve the issue,. Is it me or are these the nicest cars but are very complicated and expensive to maintain? Last those chincy CONSULT usb diagnostic cables on E-bay for $75.00 worth getting???? Ant help would be much appreciated. THANKS!

Disconnect the battery for 10-15 mins, so the ECU can reset.
It has probably gone into limp mode (just a guess).

:welcome: to NICO!

You can check the code that's causing your check engine light without Consult... check out the FSM (factory service manual) available at www.nicoclub.com/FSM/

Welcome to NICO. If you still have a Check Engine Light (CEL) on you can usually get a parts store like AdvanceAuto or Auto Zone to plug in a code reader to tell you which code is being triggered.

Well you learned a quick lesson, while you paided very little for the car, it was a 50k luxury top-line car ins 1994 and required premium unleaded gas, and that is all you should ever put into the tank. I could smack those TV idiots that say you don't need to use it. I can tell you in Cali we only have 91 octane and states that have 93 or 94 a Q will run better and get more MPG.

Good advise, try battery disconnect and see if that solves issue. If not find a good aftermarket Q mechanic and find out what the code is that your seeing. With these low miles you should be okay with repairs, but if you're looking for a car that requires to be taken care of like an Altima or Camry, buy one of those :)...seriously my 97 which only gets driven 5k a year I budget $1,000 a year...if I drove more I would have to pu that to $1,500 to $2,000 easily.

My advice is NOT to disconnect battery as it will erase the stored codes, which you want to read to pinpoint the problem area. Search this site for your year car and download the service manual which describes how to read the codes, and their specific meanings. follow the troubleshooting steps in manual for your specific codes. Parts stores cant read codes on OBD1 vehicles as far as I know {only obd2 1996+ models}

The antenna for keyless entry is NOT shared with the AM/FM antenna, it is a separate traced element in rear window at bottom corner of glass {looks similar to the rear defogger lines in glass}. rarely goes bad unless someone scraped off tint in the past- most common failure mode is defective key fob transmitter from old age/use and dropping keys.

Try reprogramming the remote fob....

If the reprogramming doesn't work aftermarket fobs are cheap.....

You're going to be hard pressed to find someone with an OBD1 code reader so you'll have to pull the ECU and read the codes manually. ECU is located behind the passenger side kick panel. Instructions for pulling codes (and a lot of other great information about your Q) can be found in the Tech Help section at Q45.org. Where are you located? You might get lucky and have a member who lives close with an OBD1 Consult cable and laptop program.
