Not sure if you're talking lower to upper (collector) Gasket or lower intake to head gasket... the old gasket material was a huge pain to remove from all of the surfaces. Even with the cyl head removed from the car, it took forever. Being aluminum, I didn't want to chance using a die grinder and scotchbrite.

Removal and all that is pretty much cake. 3/8" drive ratchet, 6" extension with a u-joint swivel is about all it takes. Don't forget placement of the grounds and such! I stumped myself the first time I went to put it back together.

If I could do it again, I'd use the thermalnator gaskets as replacements due to the huge pain it was to remove the old OE material gaskets.

ah to clarify,
i'm re-installing the manifold. I'm referring to the lower intake to head gasket. I found this video on how to remove the old material http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2lM7IgqMAiA. so i think i'll use that method. I have a new cometic gasket coming next week.

Basically looking for tips from anyone who's done it before for applying the gasket itself & liquid gasket etc.

Throw a new gasket on there and bolt it up. Cometic sells a nice replacment for cheap rb20 or 25. Just take your time its not very hard to bolt it back down.
