Look guys, my z32's been out of commission for almost two years, and I finally have all the stuff to put it back together, rebuilt turbos and all the gaskets/oil seals. But I do need help.

I've only built one engine before, and it was an ej22 in my engines class. I dropped out of that school :tisk: One could conclude i'm not all that confident when it comes to rebuilding an unfamiliar engine, I at least know my way around and engine fairly well..

Anyway, I'm trying to get it rebuilt before Carlisle so I can finally enjoy my z after all this time, and have some fun this summer too! Is there anyone willing to help me out? I'm trying to start this weekend rebuilding the engine and getting it back in the car.

I don't have much money..hopefully someone's feeling generous enough to help. I don't think i can get it done myself, and my dad's being pretty much useless. :ohno:

I figure this could be a learning experience for me as well, so i don't need to ask for this again in the future.

How disassembeled are you talking? Completely bare? Is the shortblock assembled? Are the heads together or apart?
Do you have the torque specs and access to an FSM?
I've only built sbc's but would recommend that you have a machine shop at least rebuild the bottom end for you.

Why did you take it apart if you don't know what you're doing?

The heads are together, the bottom end is completely apart.

I do have access to a machine shop. I'm just hoping if I go get the block checked and acid dipped that it won't be a week's turnaround with them. At this point, I was just going to forego the machine shop for now, because I intend (oncei have money saved up) that if it blow's I'll just buy another vg to put into the bay and do what I want with it at that time.

I'm not the one who took it apart. It took my dad a year to just start taking the engine apart for me while I was in the military. I highly doubt he'll get it done in 3 weeks.

What does FSM stand for?

FSM means factory service manual.

Thanks,

I have, or can get, the torque specs...not the factory repair manual.

Didn't even know that existed online. Thanks for those links, Hannibal :D

So yes, I do have the FSM.

If someone would even be interested in giving me a detailed walkthrough of rebuilding this engine, I'd be very appreciative. If someone can find a detailed writeup, that would also be helpful for me and the other friend of mine.

I though you would know what FSM is by now lol.

You should ask Tony to see if he would come help you...

I can help you out, but its a little of a drive for me. Have everything ready to rock and I can help you out a few hours, possibly as soon as Sunday.

Lol I have no idea how I didn't Mark. Haha.

F*cking acronyms, I had problems with the millions of them in the Navy for everything, now at my job too, and apparently my personal life too. Who ever thought that they were helpful?!

F*cking service manual is FSM for all I care. haha.

Anyway, sounds good Frapjap, PM about to be sent. If you don't feel like driving it's cool. I have a friend of mine willing to help already, maybe two more off my facebook but we'll see. I'll let you know.
