I wouldn't get a cai rather get the ZTube and leave the stock air box paper based filter instead. First the cai puts the filter into the drivers fender. That's pretty low. If you've ever gone through flooding you would not want to do that. Second the filter needs to be cleaned 2 times per year. The oiled filters gum up pretty quickly. Lastly the oil on the filter will dislodge and make its way up to the maf. That means you have to clean both more frequently. Why would you make something that requires little maintenance into something that requires much more and has risks? I've been through it before with all of my prior cars and tbh there are much more gains to be had with the mrev2 spacer and header back exhaust. Work on those, get the car tuned to the highest octane you can find and then make the Call if you still need that 1 hp and hassle.NycGMONyc wrote:bump, still hopping that some one could give me info on cold air intake
thanks for the input, when i had my 2006 M45 i had the Injen CAI i know how low it sits and i was always worried when driving in the rain that i would hit a puddle to deep.msvara wrote:I wouldn't get a cai rather get the ZTube and leave the stock air box paper based filter instead. whats the website or a link?msvara wrote:I would look into motodyne. I just read their spacers and lower mrev2 works with the revup engine. Check their website.
I had thus when I had my 370Z, I loved it....atlM35 wrote:Something like this would be ideal. Cold intake without much worry about hydrolock:

Yeah, I had mixed feeling about the heat. Perhaps a heat shield between the filter and condenser would help. The heat would be less of a problem if the radiator fan was constantly spinning, which wouldn't be too difficult to make happen.msvara wrote:Holy cow that's cool. Although the AC efficiency may suffer a bit. Plus the AC condenser gets real hot on those hot days so he'll be pulling in some hot air in stop and go traffic.
