Ok my friends if you have read any of my post you know I'm a audio/video computer guy. I am no mechanic but I'm learning. Im tired of being ripped off. Heres my question. I have a 2004 i 35 . When i backup it makes a cross between a grinding grunting sound coming from the right front wheel are. Worse when it turn one direction . Only time it makes this noise is backing up. Is it cv joint, strut or possibly something else? Thanks my friends!

There is a chance it could be your CV, or something as simple as an object lodged somewhere underneath your car that causing a rough rubbing sound.

If the CV joint is bad, you might as well replace the entire axle. The cost isn't that much more, and you can buy an axle with a lifetime warranty.

Also me sure to check the dust shield on the back side of the brake rotor. Mine was making noise (most noticeably in reverse), but when I jacked it up in the air and turned the wheel it wouldn't make any noise.
