Ok here is the scoop.... For the past 12 months my son and I finished building his new motor put it in and finally have it broke in. Took it to the dyno, and on the first run it ran to 7k and died, spitting out a rather long flame through the back. Started the car and tried a second run, same thing. Thought at first the lifters were collapsing causing the valves to not open all the way at the 7k mark. Checked that out and nope not a problem. Started the car for a third run and this time we had a timing light on the crank during the run. The car advanced timing properly right up to 7k then RETARDS to 0 degrees TDC right at 7k!!! WTF... The AEM EMS shows the car advancing AND holding timing right up to the 7k mark but the crank says different. We did the diagnostics on the AEM, CAS and TPS but all checked right to specs. This has us completely confused. The only bright side to the story is the fact that at 6800 rpm and 18psi the car put out 425 RWHP. Our original goal was 500RWHP so considering what is going on these numbers are encouraging that our goal will be met and exceeded.
