I have a 2003 nissan pathfinder SE 4x4. I'm having problems when I drive, that the truck is not shifting properly. I'll press the gas pedal and the car is unresponsive when it should be accelerating but the rpms are hitting 3500+. It will jerk back and forth and accelerate normally and then die out again. I changed the fuel filter and transmission filter hoping to fix the problem but I'm still having the same problem. Thoughts are leaning towards a fuel pump or transmission going bad. Any thoughts or similar experiences?

Thanks,

Taylor

Try cleaning the MAF sensor (you will require a T20 tamper-resistant Torx bit and some MAF sensor cleaner; don't use any other chemical).

Motor or transmission or fail safe mode.
In neutral rev engine can you spin it up, any miss or hunt?
Load the engine with the transmission in 2-3
Try a full throttle, does it go

Can you drive in all gears manually

Possibilities:
MAF dirty, changed conduit, ratio out
Transmission solenoids sticking
You are in fail safe mode
ECU fault
Any MIL codes?

Ark is right. Have it scanned for codes. I had a similar situation a year ago (same year and model pathy). No jerking though. I had a cam sensor code with no check engine light. Replaced the cam sensor and haven't had a problem since.

Any further response? Have you tried any of the suggestions of late? I for one would appreciate your feedback, thanks
