Don't cheap out on the highly stressed arms. Here is some god info from the stickies, you can see some of the specs that are out there. Now I don't drift, or plan to so I'll let the others take over.

before anyone rips you on mentioning ebay godspeed is a good brand people seem to think sometimes if people market their product on ebay it turns into a lower quality product. sigh* anyways thats a good buy but as far as what you need goes I think green said it right as far as parts go ..brands wise there is tons of options just got to read up on testimonials

Run with the suspension stuff you have first, only replace it if it breaks.

I'd invest in a good radiator.

Yeah cuz you are really gonna need that extra 15hp

I have had both single and dual cam KA's and the difference in power is not even noticeable. In an almost 20 year old car you have lost x amount of hp anyway so some single slammers are actually going to make better power than some dual cams. In a '90 s13 I am assuming you are running a single cam. If you think about an engine swap do not even think dual cam KA. It would be a waste of time.

Edit:100th post!

Here is my opinion (KA drifter for 5 years or so)

1. get yourself a nice bucket seat. You will be AMAZED at how much you have to WORK in a stock seat. You slide everywhere. If you get yourself a bucket seat, you won't even think about moving around or bracing your legs or whatever.

2. 2 way LSD. I always suggest this. You DID say you have a welded differential, right? I guess that will work fine.

3. Coilovers. get something that is going to make your car stiff and low. Once you do this, you strongly MIGHT need to get adjustable rear upper control arms.

4. have fun. add parts as needed/wanted.

I drifted my old S14 with a stock radiator forever. You don't NEED a bigger aftermarket one, but it's nice to have.

Don't get rid of that stock clutch fan. Leave it, it works fine.

Don't get an expensive aftermarket drive shaft. I see no need for it at all. I've never had one, I can drift fine.

Bigger stabilizer bars are nice, but not needed. I have stock ones on my S13 and they work. I DO want to get bigger ones though...

As a general rule of thumb, stay away from all those cheap parts you will find on ebay. They are generally mass produced with QUANTITY instead of QUALITY.They might work fine, but they might fail terribly.

Enjoy.Don't spend every dime on the car! Save some too.

I'm still gonna say get a better radiator. We live in AZ, it's hot.

Plus my perfectly fine sohc overheated at my first event.

A new rad is nice and perhaps needed.... It shouldn't HURT to get one. lol.

I just know that my 14 ran forever on that stock radiator, even in the dead of summer at ASB. 100+ temps and 2 days of full out drifting.

I love my new radiator though... it's shiny.

let it be known that s14 OEM rads are over an inch thick from the factory while lil baby S13 rads are 5/8" thick. and are much older.

s13 rads need to live in the garbage can.

mishimoto has served me well for a year+ of beating the piss out of the car.

I agree with BH. The only suspension pieces I have are coilovers and some braces here and there. Stock KA works fine for getting sideways as long as you have a 2 way or welded diff.

I now have a turbo, so I'm happy power-wise. My next mods are going to be suspension oriented. Stock everything works to an extent, but I might get new knuckles for more angle. I recently installed a cage so I can tandem as well as have some more chassis bracing.

I know people that go out and drift their bone stock 240's. You can have fun with your car exactly how it is now.

How much is one of those aftermarket driveshafts?

I REALLY don't think that is the best thing to get. If you MUST get a new driveshaft and you can ONLY find an aftermarket one, then of course go for it. If you can find a stock one, go with that.

But hey, buy the parts that make you happy. It's your car, so YOU must deal with it everyday.

THIS^

Two people on this thread have the right Idea. This guy and PJ.Stock driveshaft will work fine, and a 1-piece is a big overkill if your not making a track car. if its your daily, have fun with the noise.

+1 on this being stickied. Coilovers, maintence, Welded (or if you can afford it, but not essential at this point: 2-way differential) RUCAS wouldnt hurt, good tires (Kuhmo XS, or RT615)

If your just learning this is pretty much a great starting setup.A bucket seat and steering wheel (330-350mm) is later on.

A radiator wouldnt hurt at all. and if you do buy a radiator, get a better fan (clutch fan WILL work great, but getting a good fan(s) and buying/making a shroud will help more) before putting a SHO fan in mine after 5 minute exhibitions I'd see the temps go up.. make sure you get good fans with your radiator.

The above posts pretty much covered what you need or dont need. My advise.. Dont cheap out on anything suspension. Drifting is very hard on our old chassis. Its much better that you take the time to replace your stock suspension with quality, proven parts then buying cheap and having to replace them down the road. Honestly i would rather have the stock stuff over any cheap aftermarket suspension anyday. And for god sakes Replace those stock worn out bushings!!!! Stock suspension usually fails from a worn bushing.

true but i disliked the s14 rad in my car. the nipple for the overflow faces the wrong way and more importantly, the s14 rad is taller and doesnt fit very nicely
