ME! Been riding for 1 month now. I need to take my MSF course because I'm not 21 and it lowers insurance. I do have my permit though, and I have a good starter Kawasaki CSR 250 that I ride. I plan to upgrade to a Ninja 500R in a few months.

For the guys who bought used bikes-- I know what to look for in a used car, but buying a used bike kinda scares me. Any advice? I would much rather spend $6-8K on an S14

And Jester, please stick to cars man. You seem to have bad luck on Suzukis.

as for buying used, look for obvious signs of damage, if you are able to watch the guy start the bike up cold youll get a good indication of how good a shape the plugs, wires, fuel system is. Ride it if you know how and make sure you like it, and make sure stuff is in good running condition. Look for signs that it is well taken care of, you can usually tell.

Once you start riding a bike, you'll see how much fun it is. I was never really into bikes until I started riding my friends. But, you have to be very careful when riding because cars don't see you. Already I've had many cases when I am riding along side a car, and the car will attempt to come into my lane because he/she doesn't see me. Bikes are lots of fun if you respect them, and realize you have little room for error. And street sleeper, thats a pretty quick bike for only riding for 2 months. Stay safe.

'02 GSX-R 600 flipped on 3 seperate occasions.. last was at 80ish on 101 fwy racing a DSM... that killed it :( thought about a new R! but got my Tacoma instead since it is my only operational vehicle. I'll get a bike again after I get around to buying a house.

Only three out of the four wrecks was my fault. The last one was the old woman driving the cadi's fault.

One piece of advice is check the gas tank for rust. I Kan-tuna's tank was really badly rusted. I think it may have been in a flood. Anyway, if there is anything more than a little surface rust, go on to the next bike. It will screw your carbs/injection up big time. If the tank has a little surface rust and you buy it, take it first off and get the tank coated. Hell, I say get the tank coated even if it doesn't have any rust in it yet.

And yeah, I didnt have good luck. I would recommend Suzuki products to anyone. They are by far teh best bikes on the road. My wrecks were where I lost focus for just a second. Loose focus, and eat pavement.

Please for the love of God buy good equipment. AND WEAR IT!!!

Personal note: The Suzuki SV650 is the absolutly best bang for the buck on the market. Think about it......
