cant regret it. sure the rb26 needs a bit of work to make it stupid fast, but so does any motor.plus the rb is one of the best sounding engines of all time IMO.Only regret i have is sourcing parts.

i love my rb26 its very reliable and has been running with no serouis issues for about 3 years now, and it responds quite well to bolt ons as long as it has a good tune. just remember since your going to be drifting alot, that means you will be wrapping the crap out of that motor and your going to be breaking parts that are not readily availble like ka parts etc. theres only a few parts that crossover to rb's that are available in the states but there all mostly basic maintance parts. so just beware, otherwise id say go for the rb25.

spend the extra money and go 25, i drove my rb25 for six years as a daily with no issues. And it never was an easy six years for the car lol. Also +1

I would go for the KA-t before RB20 in a AE86.

Or a nice F20C !!!!!! :-)

in the ae? thatd be interesting. in my s13 the only regret i have is not buying a gasket kit. i like the sound, motor is strong and plenty of kick for the price. parts are becoming more available for this motor dont let that be the deciding factor. i would skip a 25 for a 26 if was in that price range, but id probably buy another shell too.

a ka-t would have made about the same amount of power but i didnt have a good ka to start with.

Ive got an SR and i have an RB25. I regret not putting an LS1 in the SR S13 and i regret not doing a 2jz in the S14 RB25. I love both my engines but the SR20 is too small to get alot of fun power without using nitrous to help the turbo and the RB25 just isnt a very stout engine, at least not compared to a LS1 or 2JZ. Now that i think about it, maybe ill sell both my cars and get a WS6 or a SC300 and turbo it. haha jk.

I only regret spending so much money on it. In the end it's semi-worth it, but thinking about what else i could have spent 12k on gets me wondering.

I regret listening to 'friends' who stated 'We'll be with you every step of the way!' four-plus years ago, that lead me to ordering a half-cut.

I should have listened to my gut and went with an LSx or KA-T. Or just bought an 05-06 CTS-V and been done with it.

I don't regret any of the friends that I have made on here (Nico, RB-Forum specifically).

If I could get the 16k that I invested back, I would.

I hear ya on that. With the money ive put in both my cars, i could have had a Twin Turbo Built and Stroked LQ9 Trans Am by now. I want rediculous power and good looks so bad.

all in all 20 is cheaper swap and easier to drop in the s13. pleny room for more power.i am very happy with the 20. my hp goal is only 300hp. very doable and streetable. my friend is doing 26 so im excited to see how it goes. only seen a 25 never drove or swapped one...

when ppl say its only 600 less or something for a 25 they are talkn in just the price of the engine. you also hve to get dif drive shaft and a few numerous other things to complete that swap compaired to the 20.

i myself am in the middle of the 20 swap. i wish i would have waited and done it the right way. i found what i thot was a sweet deal on a 20 and happend to have the 800 for it (xmas bonus at work) (also i was 17 at the time and a broke B*tch) the car still isnt running im having wiring isues right now then in theory it should fire. but thats after i spent so far probly 1k extra on just parts for the engine (gaskets bearings new head valve job s*** ton of ignitor chips and wiring) but if you do the 20 swap do it right unlike me, buy it from a good know company have carl h do the wiring tear apart the engine make sure all the bearing and seals are good or replaced.

you say your looking for 250hp. but once you get 250 your gona want 300 400 and so on. and from what im told a t3t4 550cc injectors new maf fmic and a good tune can get 400 out of a 20
