I have the old school Apine cda 9847 w/ the Ipod Interface thingy, and dude, let me tell you, scrolling through my Ipod through my reciever sucks! Its very slow. Especially if you have a lot of songs, it'll take forever to search for a song (not to mention its probably dangerous when driving).

I bought the Drive + Play by Harman Kardon for my gf's car, and it works great. Scrolling through your Ipod is fast and easy, plus theres a screen you can mount on the dash. But the sucky part about it is it's off of an FM transmitter, so the sound isn't perfect

Anyone have any good recommendations on an Ipod integration that works similar (fast scrolling w/ a display screen) but isn't transmitted through radio?

I'm not personally a fan of its aesthetics, but the pioneer dehp6900 is probably one of the best interfaces for an ipod that I've ever played with.

which one the Harman Kardon one?

Yeah, I'm not either.... but there really wasn't much to choose from. We still wanted to retain her radio controls on her steering wheel (Jeep Cherokee), so getting an aftermarket reciever was out of the question.

cool. Thanks man... I just now searched and read a review.

Sounds interesting, and I like how everything works off a USB port so you can use other MP3 devices...

not bad looking too!

so I guess the USB port is located in the back?

yeah so you run a cable over to the glove box from the back of the radio. Steering wheel controls can be done with an adapter to make life even easier Pac makes a part model number swi-ps.

The newer Alpine radios have a better ipod search function and it divides the entire ipod into 6 sections. You can use the presets to get to the section of the ipod you want quickly. The older KCA-420i was much slower. The iDA-X001 is superfast AND USB AND 24bit D/A AND album art, etc. You could retain audio quality by using the KCA-121B and an ipod cable like the Peripheral electronics PXP01. It would power the ipod but you would have to control it from the ipod.

Like EW said, you need one of the Alpine I-Pod radios. They do not play CD's, but who cares. The I-Pod control is perfect, it displays 6 lines of text at a time and can be scrolled through fast just by holding the volume knob one way or the other.

In stock and ready to ship.....

Or the new ones which are not out yet......
