Many people here have used Continental ExtremeContact tires and liked em. I personally like the Michelin PilotSport A/S 3+ I have now on my M56.

There are so many variables, it's like when people ask what oil is best... What is the use of the car and what is your goal, budget, etc?

At the low end of the spectrum you have lower price but more road noise, less grip, etc... At the high end of the spectrum you don't always get more of everything. Do you prefer longevity vs grip? rain, desert driving??

Best to use a site like Tire Rack. Take their decision guide and enter your car details. That will give you a list of tires to choose from based on your specific answers.

If you are like lost people and want a decent tire in the lower price range, I recommend Nexen NFera’s. I’ve been through three sets of them on different cars and they do well in the rain and don’t make a lot of noise. They are an all-season, so you won’t be tracking your car with them, which nobody does with a heavy sedan. Sure, if you have the money, Michelin’s are the s***, but if you have a kid and aren’t racing, Nexens are good tires.

Goodyear F1A3 has very good cost-performance to me.

For summer tires, Michelin Pilot Sport 4S is the best - in a 245/45-18 size with a load index of 100 would be perfect if you have 18" wheels.

Just do not drive with these in snow ... or even cold weather near freezing! If so, the Michelin Pilot Sport AS 3+ will be a better choice for light snow conditions.

However, if you live in snow country for months each year, then get a set of cheap wheels and use good snow tires (like Michelin Alpine or similar). Even so-so snow tires will be better and safer than summer tires then!

Continental also makes great tires, so anything you see by them that you like and you;ll be fine
