Our family is growing, and we are looking to upgrade from our Rogue to something larger. Maybe an Armada or Pathfinder. The Rogue has been great - never let us down, easy to maintain, good mileage, and had no issues with anything we asked of it.

It's a '08 SL AWD, fully loaded with every option (leather, sunroof, bose, heated seats, trailer tow package, etc.)
It has about 70k miles, black on black.

No major exterior blemishes, no major interior blemishes.

I'm just curious what I should expect for a trade value when we go in. I know they aren't exactly sought after in the used market, so I'm expecting a low ball offer...just not sure how low I should expect and accept.

I know KBB, NADA, and Black Book offer values - they are never in line with dealer offers. So I thought I'd ask here first.

Thanks,
Shawn

That's a tough one, this will vary a lot by region and depend highly on the circumstances. In my area, Alberta Canada, the Rogue is highly sought after as a used vehicle, the dealer practically begs me to tade in every time I'm hanging around the sales area. I use black book value for starters, I paid around 27 for my 08 Rogue FWD SL and black book is around 17 now, depreciation is pretty good compared to others such as Dodge.

If you're looking to buy a pathfinder from the dealer you bought your Rogue from you likely will get a better trade-in value than if you go elsewhere, say Honda for example where they know their product is solid and aren't typically motivated to give much in negotiations. Go to GM, Dodge or Ford and they'll likely be more eager for your trade and give you a better deal.

Also remember it's not jsut the number on your trade, it's the overall deal, the differential between your trade and the new car. Again there are so many variables that it's tough to say, but looking at the black book value is a good starting point.

By the way, the new redesigned Pathfinder will be revealed on Jan 9 at the Detroit auto show, it may be worth waiting until next model year to get the redesign, or you should get an awesome deal on a 2012 Pathfinder as they'll want to clear them out in anticipation of the new model. Good luck!
