I'm pondering a high-mileage Nissan Titan as a truck to abuse and carry stuff. Its that or a Cherokee.

Are there any major issues I should be concerned with?

The early Titans had a lot of fit and finish issues, as well as some brake problems if I recall correctly. I would check to see if it's early service history reflects correcting those things.

Is the diff issue overblown?

the differential issue was fixed with the finned cover. if it has that, just keep the oil fresh enough.

What year? There was a lot of things done for the mid-2008 models. They upsized the brakes for that model. Carfax or ask your dealer to run the VIN to see what's logged as investigated and repaired.
