Is their any REAL gain in timing advance beyound 20 degr besides wasting gas in a ka24de dohc? I heard the ecu is very good and to keep timing stock then I hear to advance????? What should a person do. In my setup I have 95 s14, with a injen intake, headers and downpipe with catback, B Plat tip spark plugs with pepboys spark wires (lifetime warr). Should I be doing, adding or changing anything? And if so what should I change it to?

Idk but two of my friends with dual cam motors have there timing advanced as far as the dist. will go. They both use 93 octane. Before they did this i was able to beat both of them by at least a car. Now there beating my my 2-3 cars. There was Deff. a power gain but at the expense of the motor its not worth it.

dont excessively advance the timing. doing so can cause a lean combustion, and it shortens engine life quickly.

So with my setup should I just keep it stock timing?

I only have my timing to 32BTDC, but I also use iridium plugs, and SAFC to have a mixture closer 12.7:1.... I use to run closer to stoich when my timing wasd at 23BTDC....As you advance timing you increase the flame front of the combustion process, and it isn't recommended to do without making the proper adjustments. Even the knock sensor does retard timing a tad the ecu dumps more fuel to compensate for knock as well it can throw throttle responce and acceleration off if not done correctly. As for your friends fully advancing the distributor you can tell them that they are morons. It splits the GAP time between actual ignition timing and the time spark reaches the rotor pin actually reducing spark which will decrease low end power, and increase the EGT as RPM's increase. The ecu already pre determines when ignition timing is calculated and as RPM's increase the ecu advances the timing for you. When you manually adjust timing at the distributor you are just fooling the ecu and the engine to the time when it would originally spark....When increasing the ignition timing you will have to also use a higher octane rating with less heptane. Heptane burns fast, octane burns slow. So more than likely a higher octane needs to be used and no less than 91octane. I use 91 on the street, and I use 96octane on the track.

25 deg on mine... i think i noticed something, but marginal at best.

Right now im on the hunt for some single cam pistons to bump the compression of my DOHC. I was thinking about turboing the KA, but bank account and the emissions issues with ODBII are making me think otherwise.
