I got my 89 240sx swapped with a s13 sr20det blacktop and i noticed the transmission runs with a different gear ratio than any other sr20det. Its not much, most noticable is 5th gear runs about 400 rpms higher than normal. For instance, at 80 mph, I think the normal turbo transmission runs at 3500 rpms, but this one hits 3900 rpms.
I heard from a friend that the transmission might have originally belonged to a N/A sr20 rather than a turbo. If this is true, are there any problems with using this transmission with the turboed sr20 besides the lower gas mileage? I plan on hitting the track with this car so its going to be pushed pretty hard.
Also, the clutch engagement for the car is pretty late: press the clutch all the way in, let it almost all the way out and it starts to engage right at the end. I'm used to the clutch engaging more in the middle, is this a problem or just something I'll need to get used too?
Not sure if that clutch question was already answered, just thought of it while I was writing about the transmission, thanks in advance.
