I've been using 10W-40 royal purple in my 97 firbird LT1 without any problems. Will this weight of oil cause any problems with the higher-reving VQ? Also, what oil filters do you guys recomend? Again, been using NAPA gold in my V-8 'bird. Thanks!

I personally use only Mobil 1 syn 10W-30 in my Max(VQ30) with a Mobil 1 oil filter.

The previous owner of my car is a good friend of mine that bought the Max with 30k miles on the clock, and only used Mobil 1 10-30 until I bought it with 120k miles. It now about 160k miles on it and it still runs like beautifully.

I would also recommend the factory Nissan oil filter as an option. There aren't many options that beat OEM. If you go for the OEM filter option, try one of NICO's dealer sponsors, like http://www.nissanparts.org/ for great service and pricing.

I use the same oil as maxhopper and my car has around 145k and still runs like a champ. The only problem is that it either burns or leaks a little oil, I'm thinking it's burning it. That get's pretty expensive.. anyone know how to fix that besides taking the motor apart and replacing the rings?
