there may already be some threads out there about this. but i was wandering what kind of power loss would take place with appying larger wheels on a 240 (mostly stock) like 17's.a friend of mine threw some 17's on his 95' sentra. (those are some weak @$$ cars by the way ) and has noticed significant power loss durung acceleration.

The only real power loss would be because the wheels are heavier than smaller ones. It will definitely change your speedometer accuracy though.

And Sentras are not all weak as$ cars, doofus. Maybe it would be more responsible to research before making a generalized statement about something you have little knowledge of.

Although the application is different all the basic principles are the same, enjoy the reading... If you actually read it though, you will learn a lot as to why race cars are the way they are.

I suppose to put it simply. The total power of the engine has not decreased, due to a higher rotating mass of the larger wheels and tires, the rate of the application of power towards accelerating has decreased.

Thaddeus & thang nguyen - thanks for the info

Dattebayo-Im really hoping that in your reply to my question YOU call'n me "Doofus"was a freak'n typo. cuz im think'n that anyone that can call a complete stranger a Doofus must really be one themselves.how are you guna tell me to quit making generalized statements about a car that i supposedly don’t know anything about when your making statements questioning the intelligence/knowledge of a subject of complete stranger.Who cares if I don’t like a certain car. My opinion about a freak’n sentra aint guna change your life in the slightest bit. So keep your Dumb comments do yourself. Thank you. End of thread {plane16j walks away},,,,{than comes back}......o yea i almost 4got!!

2BN, KITFO.

95 Sentra? Yep. Slow.

Keep the original overall diameter close to stock, and find a light, non-cast wheel. Otherwise, you'll kill acceleration, as you've already seen.
