not one personally, but I know someone who does professional photos, video, and sound. I could ask him if you don't get a response from anyone here within a couple days. What are the models you own?

I'm no photographer, but I bought a mini collapsable tripod that fits in the camera bag. It collapses to just 3", and extends to 12" when in use. I know it's not what you're probably looking for, but I like how light it is and quick to use. Usually use it when I'm out in the mountains so I can get pics of people instead of just the scenery.

My digicam is a Canon S60, if you were wondering. I love it. It has full manual controls, or I can use aperture priority or shutter speed priority. It was the best compromise between compact convenience and SLR control. I only wish it had better manual focus though.

I have a Sony DSC-H5 and both a monopod and a tripod. This is really one of those 'what do you need' answers. They come in a variety of sizes and shapes and prices. If you need portability go with the lightest one you can find. The best approach is to extend them in the store, mount your camera and swivel it (up and down as well as sideways) then remove your camera. If that all feels fluid without having to fuss with anything it's probably right for you.

All tripods use a standard screw size that goes into the bottom of the camera. Pick one that fits your needs. Whether it's a fullsize or do you want a mini that you can place on a table top. You can go to a Best Buy aor Circuit City store and check out the different sizes. They also have monopods with just one leg that are nice too. Check the different kinds out and get what works for you.

I'll second that. You just have to go try out some models. There's a huge range, with decent models available at discount stores and high-end models at camera specialty stores and online. The mounts are generally universal, although some are smoother than others.

I decidedly an amateur/hobbyist and picked up a lower end (though not the lowest) at a discount store. It's stable and works well. It's not as smooth as those costing several times more, but it does the job.

Spend the extra money to get a more expensive one.

Make sure its light (aluminum), Strong, and balances well. Make sure it will stand the test of time witout the leg locks slipping or anything like that, A Tripod will outlast your Camera if you get a good one.

I also suggest getting one that has a level built into it so you know when the tripod is... well.. level.

I like the moody tone in that pic.

Do you prefer the non-hubcap look?

For that picture on that car, I'd take the steelies over the hubs. That a damn near perfect shot. Great job man.

The best tripods I have used over the years are SLIK. Many models to choose from. You won't need much unless you have a really heavy camera/camcorder.

I put my Canon 30D with a big lens on there and it's rock solid.
